Download Updated TinyUmbrella To Backup 6.1.2 SHSH Files And Jailbreak Tips – After last week’s release of iOS 6.1.2, notcom has updated TinyUmbrella (a utility for saving SHSH blobs) today to include support for the newer firmware. The latest version now functions on all versions of iOS 6 – excluding iOS 6.1.3 beta 2, which remains exclusive to registered Apple Developers.
Unfortunately, as with previous versions of TinyUmbrella, today’s 6.12.00 can grab SHSH blobs for all iDevices, but only those powered by Apple’s A4 processor or earlier can use them to downgrade. While newer devices, like the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad mini, iPad 4 and the iPod touch 5G or 5th generation iPod touch can’t be downgraded at this point in time, there may be a downgrade solution in the future, in which case, it’s likely said method will require SHSH blobs obtained from lower firmwares.
Furthermore, it’s important to realize that once Apple stops signing a public firmware, which happens after every new iOS release, the window to grab SHSH blobs is permanently closed. For example, it’s now impossible to obtain SHSH files for iOS 6.1, as Apple no longer signs the firmware. With that said, act quickly and backup your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella sooner rather than later. Once the window is closed, there’s no hope of ever going back.
Additionally, if you own an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch that’s jailbroken on iOS 6.1.2, or even 6.1, avoid iOS 6.1.3 when Apple issues the forthcoming firmware to the public. Over this past weekend, planetbeing discovered that one of the key five exploits employed by Evasi0n is patched in 6.1.3, which in turn patches the evasi0n jailbreak.
