Jailbreak TaiG 8.4: How to Avoid ALL Issues

Jailbreak 8.4 Cydia

1. If your iOS device is running 8.4 and was updated via Apple’s OTA (over-the-air) update feature inside the settings app, you must complete the below “Important Steps” segment.

Important Steps: OTA iOS 8.x users need to restore by backing up inside of iTunes, restoring to iOS 8.4 (provided 8.4 is the latest firmware, if an 8.4.x update is issued following the publication of this article, you must live with the complications OTA jailbreaks inevitably cause), restore from your backup and proceed with the jailbreak.

2. Confirm that you have a Windows-based PC or a Mac with OS X, which is now Officially supported by TaiG (see the below Mac OS X iOS 8.4 jailbreak TaiG video), but if you encounter issues on OS X, we advise creating a virtual machine, setting up Windows in Bootcamp or borrowing a Windows PC.

iTunes Downgrade Steps: If TaiG encounters issues jailbreaking 8.4 on your device, you may be required to downgrade iTunes to 12.0.1 (though this should be a moot point). To accomplish such a feat, simply open Control Panel and uninstall everything from Apple Inc., being iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support and Apple Software Update. Next, navigate to your local disk (c:) > users > your name > Music and rename the iTunes library. Finally, reboot your PC and install iTunes 12.0.1 from the below downloads.

Finally, with out any additional delay, you can now continue with the final set of instructions to jailbreak iOS 8.4 untethered on your iPhone, iPod or iPad!

Step 1. Beyond downloading TaiG 2.4.3, you may also need to obtain iTunes 12.0.1 from the below download section if you encounter problems.

Step 2. Disable Find my Device inside of the iCloud portion of the Settings app (the name is dynamic depending on your device, it will either be dubbed Find my iPhone, Find my iPad or Find my iPod), Auto lock and Passcode lock “& Touch ID” features on your iOS 8.4-powered device.

Step 3.  Uncheck the “3K Assistant” box toward the bottom of TaiG’s interface to prohibit the installation of the third-party Chinese software distribution platform. Aside from Cydia, absolutely nothing will be installed on your device, provided you uncheck the bottom box – TaiG is confirmed to be one of the safest jailbreaks ever created.

Step 4. Click the large “Start” button inside of TaiG to continue, leave your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch connected to your computer and confirm that everything functions properly (just allow 10 minutes for each stage, if TaiG appears to be stuck, refer to the above “Important Steps”).

Once your iOS 8.4 device reboots, you’ll be greeted by an welcome sight - Cydia! Simply launch the app for the tweak distribution platform and refer to the below note.

Important Note: Upon opening Cydia for the first time, allow the app to properly Reorganize the Filesystem on iOS 8.4; if this stage is interrupted, you may be forced into restoring.

For those of you who aren’t interested in using Windows, you can utilize TaiG for Mac to jailbreak iOS 8.4 untethered. The jailbreak steps are virtually identical to the ones we’ve supplied above for TaiG on Windows, save the fact the the utility requires dragging it to the Applications folder prior to running it.

Congratulations, after only four simple and easy steps, you’ve managed to successfully jailbreak iOS 8.4 on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch running Apple’s latest firmware with Apple Music!

TaiG v2.4.3 Jailbreak 8.4, Cydia 1.1.23 Update

Update x3: On August 2nd, TaiG finally released the official Mac adaptation of their utility, which is now available on OS X as TaiG v1.0. Currently, it seems as though the Windows tool is much more stable, considering this is TaiG’s first crack at developing for OS X - needless to say, use the Windows utility as a fallback if you encounter complications.

Update x2: Following several updates, TaiG has issue version 2.4.3 of their iOS 8.4 jailbreak utility, which not only corrects issues with users getting stuck at 60% but also improves the general stability of the jailbreak process. The latest version of the TaiG Untether pack is still version 2.3  (as per ‘Update x1’).

Update x1: TaiG version 2.3.0 was released by TaiG on July 2nd, 2015, which includes the latest Cydia 1.1.19 build and improved security and success rate when running the Windows-only executable program. Users who are already jailbroken can simply install the latest Cydia and TaiG Untether 2.3 package via Cydia - launch the app and install all available updates.

  2. HI! I’ve noticed a big problem. iTunes 12.0.1 does not work on windows 10. Everytime i try to download the 12.0.1 version, it says that it’s a too old version for this version of windows. Is there any way of going around the 12.0.1 thing and just keep using the newest iTunes.
    - Alexander

    1. Well I downloaded iTunes 12.0.1 from TaiG site and installed on Windows 8.1 and upgraded to Windows 10. It’s working fine. Search for iTunes 12.0.1 setup exe from Jailbreak site (Not from apple site). It should work in Win10.

  3. Hi All,
I just finished jailbreaking my ios 8.4 Ipad2 with the newest TaiG 2.4.3 and got a final ‘Jailbreak Succeeded’ message… HOWEVER, nothing works and NO Cydia !!! What can I do ?

    1. Welcome to iOS 8.4. Battery life time 6-8 hours :( Wish I could switch back to iOS 7… 2 f*** days battery worked.

  6. I had to install Itunes 12.0.1 for it to work, but after that, it went very smooth! Thanks! I have been waiting on this jailbreak for a while!

  7. iphone 6 upgrade form 8.1 jailbreak to 8.4
Had to downgrade itunes to get this to work. If you get an error in Cydia that said “the requested modifications cannot be applied due to required dependencies or conflicts that cannot be automatically found or fixed.” The quick fix is to close cydia from the applist and then re-open it.
    Hope this helps!
    Successful upgrade!

  8. Having problems with this:

    1) In the instructions you say to rename our itunes library. What do we rename it too? I forgot this step at first and itunes wouldnt open. The when I changed the name, it opened but made a new itunes music library file that was empty.

    2) The TaiG tool keeps saying Can’t find apple device. It is connected and I can see it in itunes but I keep getting this error message. I downgraded itunes.

    1. Hey Jim

Not sure that I have all the answers but this may help:
Firstly, don’t worry about the empty itunes library. It will not be used.
Secondly, be sure to close itunes after you connect, else the TaiG application may not see your ipad/iphone.

      Good luck
      Owbewan

    1. Hopefully you backed up your iphone before hand. Just hold down the home buttona and power button until it shows an itunes screen on your phone and then plug your phone into your computer

  9. the jailbreak tool said that my jailbreak as successful but after it rebooted it i unlocked my phone and i couldn’t find Cydia somebody help me!

      1. Make sure your itunes version is 12.0.1 and not the latest 12.2.0. I removed the 12.2.0 and installed the 12.0.1 and successfully jb my iphone 6+.

      2. Make sure while downgrading that you uninstalled everything related to apple on your computer (refer to the important steps above to get a list), maybe it is that !

  10. I tried like more than 10 to,es, its still stuck on the sixty percent mark, my iPhone doesn’t even doesn’t restart at 20 . at 60 % i says restarting than it gives 1105 error, Can Somebody help?

      1. I had the same problem and then someone suggested the following steps that worked for me :
        - backup for phone
        - restore it
        - reboot your pc
        - check that your antivirus doesn’t mark the program as a malware
        - jailbreak again, it should be cool, don’t forget to put your device on airplane mode
        - sync your device to get back all your stuff

ps : check in other messages, i posted about it and got an answer

          1. Imo, it’s safer to restore to the default 8.4 ios, then after the jb, to sync in order to get back everything mate

  11. Hey admin i did jailbreak my iphone 5s went good but my appstore dodnt work not downloading or updating whats the problem how can i fix it ??!!!!!

  13. Moe El-Beleehy
July 3, 2015 wrote that the jailbreak 8.4 was successful on iPhone 4S. Can I have some experiences from your iOS 8.4 (jailbreaked on iPhone 4S?
Have it lags, is it slow?
I’m still using a slow iOS 8.1.2 jailbreaked on 4S plus fast draining battery. So far I understand is the wifi responsible for draining battery.

    Thanks

  14. Plz help me why i m unable to restore my iphone 5. It gives me couldnt restore error 3194. I have tried all things tried with older itunes then latest itunes. But i cant restore my phone to 8.4 :/ plz help

    1. tethered is quite outdated and goes bak to the old old days of jailbreaking where you had to rejailbreak every time your phone was rebooted.. untethered means the jailbreak is long term preserved on your ios device and doesnt need redoing unless you restore to factory default or restore from dfu with a backup through itunes
