iOS 6.1 Beta 2 Seeded to Developers, Jailbreak Information – Today, just 11 days after releasing iOS 6.0.1 to the public and seeding the first 6.1 beta to developers, Apple has issued iOS 6.1 beta 2. While original 6.1 beta carried a build number of 10B5095f, the second beta firmware’s build number has changed to 10B5105c, suggesting changes and revisions over the previous beta firmware.
Similar to the first beta firmware, iOS 6.1 beta 2 simply offers developers a revised implementation method for Apple’s mapping service, addresses minor issues with Safari and brings improvements to the Passbook app and how it manages airline boarding passes.
As with the current public version of iOS, 6.0.1, there isn’t an UnTethered jailbreak utility available for either of Apple’s latest firmware. For now, the latest iOS 6 jailbreak is in the form of a Tethered version of Redsn0w that can be made to work for 6.0.1 with a simple workaround.
If the Dev Teams device to wait until Apple officially releases 6.1 to the public before pushing out an UnTethered jailbreak utility, it’s likely that the iOS community won’t see a jailbreak for 6.0.1 – aside from the Tethered, A4-only Redsn0w jailbreak.
As of now, the latest information regarding the status of the UnTethered 6.0.1 jailbreak can be found on our in-depth iOS 6 UnTethered and Tethered guide.
