Jailbreak iOS 6 beta 3 On iPhone 4, 3Gs and iPod Touch 4G Using Redsn0w 0.9.13dev3

The experts with the iPhone Dev Team have recently released an updated version of RedSn0w to jailbreak the new iOS 6 beta 3 firmware. If you’re we developer who has recently updated, you’ll be happy to know that you can still test all of your packages and tweaks. As with the previous iOS 6 jailbreak tutorials, it’s still tethered. Furthermore, you won’t be able to utilize the graphical Cydia installer app and will be forced to rely on SSH access.

Also, this jailbreak will only work for Apple’s A4 devices. If you have an iPhone 4, iPhone 4GS or an iPod Touch 4th-generation, you’re in luck. Unfortunately, support for the new A5 and A5x 4s and iPads won’t make its way to the beta releases.

Due to the fact that this isn’t an UnTethered tutorial, you’ll be forced to plug your device in and re run the tethered boot process every time the device is turned on. For this reason, it’s strongly recommended that you don’t use your daily driver for the jailbreak process.

Before we begin, make sure you have officially downloaded the original beta 3 firmware from the Apple Dev portal. As usual, this jailbreak is compatible with both windows PCs and MAC computers.

First, make sure to Download the Updated RedSn0w 0.9.13dev3 application. Also, if you haven’t already, make sure to download your beta ipsw.

Second, connect your device to your computer with a usb cord and open the redsnow utility. Set your device into DFU mode once it’s connected. To accomplish this, hold both the home and power buttons together for a total of ten seconds. Once you’ve reached the ten second mark, release the power button and continue holding the home button on its own for another 15 seconds. If entered successfully, the screen should be black.

Third, ensure that your device is connected via DFU mode by looking toward the bottom of the redsn0w window. Once verified, navigare to Extras > Select IPSW and point it at your 6.0 beta 3 firmware. After it’s been successfully identified, click ok.

Next, return to the main screen inside of Redsn0w and click the Jailbreak button. After the utility has process and patched the firmware,  you will be greeted with an options page. Ensure that the install SSH box is checked and proceed by clicking next. Once redsn0w has finished the typical jailbreak process, your device will automatically reboot.

Once booted up, set the iPhone or iPod to DFU mode again by following the simple procedure listed above. Close and reopen Redsn0w on your computer once confirming that the device was properly placed into DFU mode.

After reopening the program, click Extras>select IPSW and point it at your iOS 6 beta 3 firmware. Once the identification prompt appears, click OK to continue. Finally, select the Just Boot option to have Redsnow perform a tethered reboot. When the process finishes, the standard Apple logo will be replaced by a new Pwned boot logo and your device will boot back into its partially functional jailbroken state. Again, as a reminder, this tutorial will not install Cydia. Also, if you have any issues, be sure to refer to the video guide embedded below.
