Jailbreak iOS 6.1.1 UnTethered iPhone 4S With Evasi0n 1.3

iOS 6.1.1 UnTethered Jailbreak iPhone 4S using Evasi0n version 1.3 - Another day, another firmware release. As we reported earlier, today Apple released iOS 6.1.1 to the public. The latest version of iOS is, surprisingly, similar to iOS 6.0.2 in the sense that it’s exclusive to the iPhone 4S and was issued merely to correct a known bug present in iOS 6.1 that affects 3G cellular performance. In Apple’s haste to release the update, they overlooked one thing: the Evasi0n iOS 6 through 6.1.2 UnTethered Jailbreak, thus leaving the vulnerabilities un-patched. As it turns out, today’s release is an entirely different firmware from the developer-specific version of iOS 6.1.1 released last week.

Although the iOS 6.1 cellular data bug was only recently brought to Apple’s attention, they were quick in their efforts to release the minor 6.1.1 update to hold users over until the next unifying release of iOS, which will likely come in the form of 6.1.2.

How to Jailbreak iPhone 4S 6.1.1

Earlier, planetbeing (a well-known iOS security expert and Evad3rs Dev Team member) confirmed in a tweet that the group was planning on updating their evasion jailbreak utility to include support for the iOS 6.1.1 firmware, as the evasi0n exploits can still function on the new release.  Thankfully, the team has delivered and evasi0n has now been pushed to version 1.2 and includes the previous revisions we’ve covered on Evasi0n Jailbreak to ease the users’ jailbreaking experience.

For those of you who have updated your iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.1, evasion 1.3 is now available to download for Windows, Mac (OS X) and linux machines. Furthermore, as implied above, you should no longer experience any of the known issues that were present in versions 1.0 through 1.2 of evasi0n - it’s smooth sailing from here on out as far as jailbreaking in concerned.

Also before proceeding, it’s crucial to mention that while Apple has left the evasion jailbreak exploits untouched in today’s release, the same can’t be said for future versions of iOS. As a rule of thumb, avoid updating your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad if you wish to preserve your jailbreak and we’ll keep you completely notified as to the current status of jailbreaking.

Fo a complete and in-depth step-by-step tutorial, be sure to watch iCrackUriDevices iOS 6.1.1 untethered jailbreak guide and follow these three simple steps to have your iPhone 4S jailbroken in no time.

Step 1: Download the latest version of Evasi0n (1.3) for either Windows, Mac or Linux from our evasion download page.

Step 2: Restore your iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.1 and, to easily do so, refer to the following guide:

  • Download iOS 6.1.1, create a backup inside iTunes and restore to the new 6.1.1 firmware.
  • Note: Once you’ve successfully jailbroken, use iTunes to restore from your backup to retrieve all data.

Step 3: Considering the jailbreak instructions for iOS 6.1.1 are nearly identical to those for iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2 and 6.1, we strongly advise that you complete this jailbreak by following the same procedure found in our previous detailed jailbreak tutorial. I also recommend following iCrackUriDevice’s complete jailbreak 6.1.1 tutorial, which is embedded below.

Download OpenBackup via Cydia, open it and initiate the backup, then backup all data inside iTunes, restore to iOS 6.1.1, jailbreak, restore from your iTunes backup and, finally, re-download OpenBackup from Cydia.
