Evasion Jailbreak 6.1.4, 6.1.3 and iOS 7

Evasi0n and Jailbreaking

Evasion is, simply put, an incredible jailbreak utility developed by the evad3rs, which consists of expert hackers and security experts Musclenerd, pod2g, planetbeing and pimskeks, for iOS 6. Evasi0n is not only capable of jailbreaking iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 (Apple’s second latest firmware), but it also includes support for every iDevice that can upgrade past iOS 6, including the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, Apple’s new 7.9-inch iPad mini, the iPod touch 4G and the iPod touch 5G. If you own a device that’s running one of the earlier pre-6.1.3 versions of iOS 6 that’s listed above and it has yet to be jailbroken, we strongly advice following our in-depth evasion jailbreak 6.1.2 tutorial.

iOS 6.1.3 and Evasion

On March 19th, Apple released iOS 6.1.3 to the public, which effectively patched the evasi0n jailbreak by addressing a number of the vulnerabilities the evad3rs used in the creation of evasion. As of now, if you own a newer device on 6.1.3, which includes the iPad 4, 3, 2, the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and the 5th generation iPod touch, said device cannot be jailbroken.

However, that doesn’t mean 6.1.3 isn’t capable of being jailbroken. iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and 4th generation iPod touch owners can jailbreak 6.1.3 using a simple redsn0w workaround, which we detail in great length in our iOS 6.1.3 semi UnTethered jailbreak guide.

Untethered, Tethered and Semi UnTethered or Semi Tethered

Although the terminology confuses a majority of our readers, it’s actually quite simple. While devices jailbroken using an Untethered jailbreak utility (like evasion) can simply reboot as they normally would if they were otherwise un-jailbroken, devices jailbroken using a Tethered jailbreak tool (like redsnow) require the assistance of a computer  to fully reboot into their jailbroken state.

With that said, devices that are “Tethered” can essentially covert their jailbreak into a semi Tethered or a semi UnTethered jailbreak, both terms refer to the same type of jailbreak, by installing a simple package inside Cydia – this becomes particularly useful for the iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak. Once the semi Tethered package is installed on a device, it can then reboot without the aid of a computer and limited functionally. To regain full functionality of the device, a standard tethered boot is required. For additional clarification on Tethered and Untethered jailbreaks, we recommend reading our in-depth jailbreak 6.1.3 Q&A article.

SHSH Blobs and Downgrading

For the sake of simplicity, SHSH blobs or SHSH files are unique to every iOS device and are generated by Apple for every firmware. SHSH blobs are used by Apple to determine which firmware is current and which firmware iTunes can restore the device to, there will always be only one verified firmware by default: the latest version.

While users can manually backup SHSH files for whichever firmware Apple is currently signing using TinyUmbrella, currently only iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G owners can utilize blobs to downgrade.

Newer devices like the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini and the iPod touch 5G are regrettably “stuck” on whichever firmware they’re currently running – no downgrade method exists, as of now.

For additional jailbreak information, we recommend watching iCrackUriDevice’s latest video, which is embedded above for your convenience.

Jailbreaking iOS 7 and Beyond

While it’s likely that Apple will release 6.1.4 sometime before iOS 7, the evad3rs will not upgrade evasi0n to include jailbreak support for 6.1.4, or even the latest firmware for that matter: 6.1.3. In an attempt to preserve exploits for use with future devices and firmwares, namely iOS 7, both the evad3rs and p0sixninja, who have confirmed that they’re developing new jailbreak solutions, will wait to release such utilities until they deem fit. It’s not a matter of “if” a jailbreak will be released, but “when” and judging by the latest reports from various contributors to the jailbreak scene, it will likely be some months until owners with new devices who mistakenly upgraded to 6.1.3 can jailbreak again.

Is there any way for an untethered jailbreak for an iPhone 4 on 6.1.3 (didn’t mean to update) besides downloading the firmware for ios 6.1.2 and 6.0 and using redsn0w? Also, how difficult is downgrading?

  13. shazor32 says:

Yeah I jailbreak all my Idevices. I was waiting till the holidays to jailbreak my ipad 4 generation 6.1.2 . but for some unknown reason apple must have gave me a virus cause it started saying everything fake (this site is pretending to be apple, when i clicked on the app store app) and all my apps kept saying they needed to update before launching. I jailbroke my ipad with evasion. but even cydia was source was wrong and kept crashing too. i was forced to restore to 6.1.3 Now i have to wait till Ios 7 to jailbreak my Ipad 4.

Hi I am hoping somebody may be able to help me please, I have the 3GS when I got it few days ago it was off completely and I had to activate it but when I plugged it in it would not activate and kept saying server temporarily unavailable. I think the previous owner had it jailbroke so he could use a different sim card in it. I have original network provider sim card in now though. Anyway u took to the shop as couldn’t get phone on, he has sorted it for me and got it back on but it is still jailbroke and he told me not to update it ! But it is only running on iOS 4.1 which is absolutely useless and cannot do anything on ! I won’t to upgrade to iOS 6.1.3 but don’t know what will happen ? I don’t want to be stuck in activation mode again and have to pay another £25 to get back on again. I don’t mind about jailbroken or not, just want higher iOS ? Can somebody please please help me ? Thank you

    • brandon says:

you CANNOT upgrade iphone 3gs’ to run with firmware higher than 4.1.2 (give or take one firmware release). to use IOS 6.1.3 you need a newer phone such as an iphone 4,4S,5,ipod 4G or a new ipad.

    • Harrison says:

You just need to plug it into iTunes, and click restore. From there, it should wipe everything off and update you to iOS 6.

  15. Mike says:

So I have kinda of in need of some help, I have a jailbroke iPhone 5 on version 6.0 and what to bring it up to 6.2.1. Since apple only offers 6.1.3 what other options do I have.. Kinda of a noob Thanks

  16. Kima says:

Hi, I have an ipad mini and have jailbroken it. But when I upgraded it to 6.1.3, my ipad resets to factory settings. Is there any way i can get back my data? Everything is just swiped off and i really need to get my data back. Please help.

    • unlocked-device-benefits-default says:

Oh that is not good… you might have a hard time getting back your data if its even possible, once The device resets to factory settings, the only way of any hope getting your data, is to go thru the iTunes cloud it stores all your important data. If you have iTunes on the PC you can put all your free and paid apps bought thru iTunes also anything else that was on the iTunes PC software. You can also try to find the the last backup you did on PC thru iTunes it should work. Though I only had to do this once years ago on my iPod 2g I backed up before my jailbreak and then restored that backup after some trouble. I lost everything that I had jail-broken but I got back everything I had before the jailbreak since I saved a backup to my computer thankfully. So I don’t know if that would work now with the newer devices and newer iTunes but give it a try. also see if your cloud has a backup saved.

  18. unlocked-device-benefits-default says:

Wait this is not right… I own a iPad Mini on IOS 6.1.3 so what happens If my new device is not compatible with IOS 7? That means I, One can’t downgrade cause of my newer software and 2, Can never jailbreak because I will have IOS 6.1.4 (which if its the last update before IOS 7 then that will be my Version) Cant be jail-broken… That would make me very upset, I have a new device that can’t handle IOS 7 and i’m stuck on the last available update for iPad Mini 6.1.4 with no hope ever for a jailbreak. Unless another jailbreak hack comes in and takes over. I mean who knows what devices are able to use this IOS 7 update I only heard iPhone 5 and the “rumored” iPad Mini 2 maybe others, though what happen then? I wanted to eventually jailbreak though now I have no hope on that. Its like why? why wouldn’t you think that some devices may not be IOS 7 compatible? Yes working on a IOS 7 jailbreak is just amazing sense its not even public yet by apple so wow i’m speechless! Though who will help the ones stuck back? Yes iPad Mini and iPad 4 are very new but iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 are rumored all over the place to be coming. Is this true I don’t know if those devices are coming. I don’t want to be one stuck on IOS 6.1.4 which if it does comes I will update. Though then IOS 7 comes and there’s no compatibility for iPad Mini’s or iPad 4′s. No downgrade software or jailbreaks for 6.1.4 we are screwed. jailbreak gives freedom and control to the user. It breaks the tight chains apple puts around us and our devices. People find jailbreak scary and yes I do my device is very expensive so I want the safest I can find to jailbreak my device, I don’t want to try something else that may turn my device into a unusable metal brick…. Well I hope now I get the IOS 7 update….

  19. Teeow says:

Hi, thanks for your efforts. I was really dumb to update my iOS before checking the Jailbreak community. Anyways I have a question since I didn’t quite understand everything. iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 5 cannot be jailbroken not Untehthered nor semi-Untehthered and no one of the jailbreak developers out there will be releasing a jailbreak to it, right? God I hate apple for this update.

  20. H3L1X says:

If anyone needs any answers to anything please, leave a comment on my comment here and I will answer the question, to the up most highest extent I can. I am a experienced apple user with jailbreaks and problems including them. :) thank you and have a great day. :)

    • Don says:

If too minor maybe take about 5-10 minutes for you to write the jailbreak software or maybe add on some that minor to the version 1.5.3. This will help people just bought the new device came with 6.1.3 they can jailbreak it.

I have a iPhone 4 running on 5.1.1 because I didn’t want to update an there not be a jailbreak . I see in my phone it says the 6.1.3 update is avalibe but as I see in the post is that you can’t jailbreak it with that . Is there a way I can update it to the 6.1.2 instead of the 6.1.3 that my phone is saying

    • H3L1X says:

Ok, unless you have a blob saved for 6.1.2, than you can’t update to it, and unfortunately since you have never been on it. You can not obtain the SHSH blob you need.

  25. Cochi says:

I have an iphone 4s running on 6.1.2 i recently bought atom the new tweak but unfortunetly i had androidlock xt installed so i cant get into my home screen is there a way to get to my home screen or i just have to update to 6.1.3 and be unable to jailbreak?? Please help

    • Evasion Admin says:

NO, DO NOT UPDATE! As soon I saw your question, I immediately rushed to my computer to answer you. There’s actually a simple solution. First, hold down the home and power buttons together until your iPhone turns off. Immediately after the screen goes black, release the power button and start holding both the power button (again) and the volume up – DON’T let go of either the volume or the power, if you do, you’ll have to start over. This will automatically disable all tweaks installed on your device. Once it boots up, unlock it as you normally would, launch Cydia and delete Androidlock XT. I hope this helped, please let me know.

    • H3L1X says:

Yes, you can download a software called (IFUN BOX). Using this tool you will be able to go into your apple device and remove the tweak manually.

hello i have a iphone 4 and its current ios is 6.1.3 as previously it was on ios 6.1.2 untethered jailbroken,i was playing a game contract killer 2 and was trying to buy the stuff in game suddenly game got stuck and phone got hanged too so i restarted my phone thinking that it wil be normal again but unfortunately the phone went in recovery mode and it was showing me connect to itunes logo on screen, after connecting to itunes my phone got updated to latest ios 6.1.3,now i cannot play any game nor i cannot use any jailbroken application also,is there any possibility that i can downgrade my ios 6.1.3 to previous ios 6.1.2 and can do the untethered jailbreak again and use the full functionality without any firmware issues ??

  30. Yega says:

Um, so did evasion come up with 6.1.3 Untethered Jailbreak ?

Is there any way to jailbreak an iPhone 4s(sprint) that already has ios 6.1.3?? I’ve been waiting to see something in your updates but I haven’t seen anything. If not im going to just sale it. Thnx.

  32. mike w says:

So in the first paragraph you say the 4s can be jailbroken…but in the next you say it can’t, witch is it?

    • Robert says:

He is saying it can be jailbroken if on 6.1.2 and down. 6.1.3 cannot.

    • Evasion Admin says:

Try reading it again. We clearly state that the iPhone 4S can be jailbroken using evasi0n IF it’s on iOS 6 – 6.1.2. However, if it’s on iOS 6.1.3, it CANNOT be jailbroken!

      • Jesus Gomez says:

I have unfortunately uninstalled “Untethered Evasi0n”-packet via Cydia on my Ipad 4 IOS 6.0.1, and than I lost my Jailbreak, I tried to re-Jailbreak with Evasi0n 1.5.3 but its failed. What can I do to get my Ipad 4 to Jailbreak again’? thanks

    • nmoreman says:

I do not understand why you cannot just reinstall and run Evasi0n, this is what I am running on my my 4, ios 6.0.1 without any trouble. Just don’t upgrade to 6.1.3 if you are backing up via ITunes to computer, should be no problem unless you did something else. More info to help with a solution is needed or otherwise just run Evasi0n again

      • klins says:

no..when i tried to reinstall with Evasi0n, its said my ipad 4 is jailbreaked and the reinstall failded. In my ipad 4 is icon von cydia there, but i can’t started cydia. and yes , i’m not to update my ipad4 to 6.1.3 before i can find solution to my problem. Now I can’t use my safari-browser and my mail-program form ipad not working.

        • Robert says:

Should allow you to jailbreak anyway, it just gives a warning that jail breaking again could be dangerous. I had to do it myself not too long ago after deleting a .plist file that cydia used

          • klins says:

            i got a erors from evasi0N-jb that said my ipad is on semi-tethered. did u reinstall evasi0N on ipad 4 (A5x) ?

Easy things go to iTunes connect ur iPad & backup if u backup thay well be save old firmware after than restore &backup if finish u can install cydia If u can’t reinstall u r cydia I things u have to restore from iTunes Last time same happen like u I restore from iTunes & Reinstall cydia Thanks

  37. Tommy says:

It happend to me Cydia just vanished here’s the trick get iFunbox go into applications and find Cydia and copy it to your PC then delete from phone then recopy Cydia from PC to your phone reboot phone Cydia is back on there but won’t start up now rejailbreak and tad aaa!!!!! Cydia is back crackalacking done it on 2 iPad 4th gen worked a treat

  38. Brandon says:

Why I understand the reason to save exploits, I am losing my mind using a stock iphone5 and am two seconds from throwing it out the window and going to HTC one. I paid for many Cydia apps and now have no use since I had to carrier unlock/update my phone for business/travel. This is a crap phone from the factory and I am done with it. Back to Android till at least another jailbreak is released.

    • Bob G says:

LOl your comments express my opinion exactly…Just got tired of waiting for the HTC One TO HIT THE MARKET… When my sons told me I could jailbreak the iphone and load what I want I purchased an iPhone.. came new with 6.1.3 and I can’t do what I want … Not exactly happy … phone works fine but I miss a good aftermarket keyboard and a few other things I always run on all my androids… Bottom line I am stuck with what apple gives me.. Bob
