Untethered Jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 iPhone 5, iPad Details, Evasion Jailbreak

iOS 6.1.3 Jailbreak Untethered iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad Mini, 4 Evasion - iOS 6.1.3: the minor firmware update from Apple that patched the evad3rs Untethered Evasi0n jailbreak utility that supports all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models on iOS 6.0 through 6.1.2. Today, the writing staff at Evasion Jailbreak decided to write this brief iOS 6.1.3 and jailbreak overview article to review a variety of popular questions related to jailbreaking. A majority of the subject matter we’ll highlight and detail today can also be found in our recent evasion jailbreak and iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak questions and answers articles, with one major difference. In this report, we’re outlining each point in an incredibly simple and easy-to-undertsand format.

Jailbreak 6.1.3 iOS Untethered Evasion Jailbreak Details

6.1.3 Untethered Evasion Jailbreak

As mentioned above, when Apple released iOS 6.1.3 to the public, the company effectively patched the evasion UnTethered jailbreak. Consequently, if you own an iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini or a 5th generation iPod touch, you cannot jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 6.1.3. However, if you happen to have an older iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or a 4th generation iPod touch, you’ll be able to jailbreak 6.1.3 using a simple Redsn0w workaround – we highly recommend following our in-depth iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak tutorial.

With that said, new iOS-based devices can still jailbreak, so long as they’re running iOS 6.1.2 or earlier and are supported by evasi0n. As with jailbreaking 6.1.3, we advise that you follow the instructions outlined in our evasion 6.1.2 jailbreak guide.

Unfortunately, newer devices are not compatible with the previously mentioned 6.1.3 redsn0w jailbreak, as it employes a hardware exploit that was discovered by Geohot in 2010. The hardware vulnerability, commonly known as the limera1n exploit, only supports the devices that were available when it was discovered, all of which were powered by Apple’s A4 processor or earlier. As a result of product evolution, a number of the devices that were previously supported, including the original iPad, have been phased out by Apple and no longer receive iOS updates.

Furthermore, due to the restore method Apple uses, it’s impossible to downgrade from iOS 6.1.3 to a lower firmware, unless you own an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or an iPod touch 4G. When attempting to downgrade an older device, it’s paramount that you have your SHSH blobs manually backed up for the firmware you wish to downgrade to, as Saurik’s automatic SHSH backup service hasn’t functioned properly since evasion’s release.

There’s currently one individual, p0sixninja (quondam leader of the Chronic Dev Team), and a group of hackers known as the evad3rs who are both in the process of developing the next major public jailbreak for future firmwares. A number of our readers have questioned the developers’ motives in waiting until iOS 7 is announced and released before issuing new jailbreak utilities, the answer is rather simple: compatibly. The hackers and iOS security experts, who spend weeks and even months trying to discover incredibly complex vulnerabilities that can be exploited and used in a jailbreak, find it best to wait until Apple releases new devices and versions of iOS before making a jailbreak available to insure maximum compatibility.

After reading our article, we recommend watching iCrackUriDevice’s new jailbreak video summary, which is embedded above for your convenience.

I used snowbreeze make 6.1.2 ipsw n then downgraded fr 6.1.3 to 6.1.2. Then it was stuck in recovery or duff state which I used reds now to just boot/6.0ipsw. Then I installed the evasion 6.0-6.1.2 untethered patch from cydia. Yet I am still tethered. Am I doing something wrong, any advice or suggestion. Thanks

Any idea if this will work for an iPad2. Downy want to upgrade and find out it doesn’t work

    • CraigMack says:

If your ipad has an A4 chipset or lower you can, but if it doesn’t DO NOT upgrade to IOS 6.1.3. I believe the ipad 2 has the A5 chipset which would put you in the no jailbreak category.

Hello everyone, I have iphone 4S, version 5.1.1(9B208) and i have jailbreak, and cydia 1.1.6 and since i have been experiencing some problems, like today i could not open any program or application. I touch it to open it, it starts and stops immediatly. I am thinking on upgrading to IOS 6.1.3 and then the untethered jailbreak and i would like to know if this will work without problems. Thank you, Sandra Silva

    • CraigMack says:

You can’t jailbreak an A5 device ( iphone 4S ) that is on IOS 6.1.3. The jailbreak for IOS 6.1.3 is for A4 devices and lower. A4 devices are iphone 4, 3, 3GS etc.

    • AiK says:

They won’t release one before a major update. They want to keep the flaw open. When a functional jailbreak comes out, Apple will fix ASAP.

    • Dude who is trying to help says:

I don’t understand why you people update these firmwares there is never anything cool when they update, and usually it’s something like blocking the jailbreak…I was smart and did not update even past 6.1. Cuz I read about the updates prior to updating. I have learned this a long time ago, that is to read if there are any available jailbreaks(by the people that actually successfully jailbreak iPhones and getting more than one source)and getting as much information as possible before doing the stupid apple firmware update. And updates are never better than jailbreaks. It’s not even worth it. Unless u r forced to do update, don’t at least until u r 100% sure there is a jailbreak. The evasi0n jailbreak is by fat the best jailbreak since the jailbreak u could right from jailbreakme.com which you could never do for a long time, and that’s because apple tries really hard to make sure people keep paying for all of there apps and iDevice addons. For instance look what they did with iPhone 5, now you have repurchase everything, including chargers, I used to have like 4 or 5 chargers that I could use layin around not including car chargers, now, gotta go and by everything new again, I don’t mind buying a new case, cuz the only reason y I wanted the iPhone 5 was for the bigger screen, it’s really not much faster than the iPhone 4, just has better hardware in it to make up for the bigger screen and better graphics, but honestly, the only thing I would really care to have better graphics for is something that has a bigger screen, y do u think most tvs smaller than 32″ aren’t 1080p, because most people aren’t gonna pay more for something that doesn’t need it. 32″ tv doesn’t really need 1080p because of the size and most people that use a main tv is gonna be bigger than that, but now I’m just going on and on from what I was talking about, just don’t update ur phone unless u r sure there is a working jailbreak, and remember if you have to pay for the jailbreak it’s not real!!!

    • barbara says:

go to settings, and general, and restaure. i think if tou just restaure, it will leave the jailbroken promam on your phone otherwise, re jailbreak it like on the first time

      • Maxwell says:

No if he does that it will cause the phone to stop booting up, causing him to have to upgrade to the latest firmware. Trust me… I tried and it happened lmfao >_<

Hi, I own an iphone 4 and currently running ios 4.0.1 jailbreaked. If I update to 6.1.3 then use redSnow will I be able to unlock it? and furthermore is it going to be a tethered jailbreak. Thank you in advance. Kind regards, Alex

    • Maxwell says:

Yes, it will be a tethered jailbreak. You may be able to get a semi-tethered jailbreak. Unlock wise, I do not believe you can on a tethered jailbreak so you may want to hold off until they release the next untethered.

Nope, you can’t jailbreak an iPhone 5 on iOS 6.1.3

  38. 3zrail says:

  39. Robin Hood says:

Wow people are so pathetic here. If you wanted a jail-broken device then stop fiddling with the new firmwares, it is plain and simple. LOL @ “I am desperate”, “…stone piece that costs 52k” way too pathetic people! Jailbreak takes time and lots of effort. Donating couple bucks wouldn’t do shit. Sit back and try to find a hobby while the Evasion team finds a jailbreak.

    • Maxwell says:

Well yes thats true donations wont really help, but in all honesty I still donate, after all if it wasn’t for them we would still have the most restricted phones on the market.

  40. Brandon says:

I have an dilemma. I just got an iphone 5 today and thankfully it was still on 6.1.2. I’ve tried plenty of times to jailbreak it but the jailbreak icon won’t come up when it’s supposed to. I also noticed that iTunes is saying it cannot read the iphone and that it has to be restored. Do I have to upgrade? Any advice?

  41. Bob says:

Can I get some advice? I have an iPad 2 with jailbroken iOS 5.0.1. I adore it, and I’m perfectly happy with it. However, some apps I want to purchase and use from the Store require iOS 5.1 (e.g., GarageBand), so I can’t use it. Would I be safe using iFaith to try and update my iPad2 to something in the 6.x line (I ran it, and it showed that there were several available for my device), or do you think I should just sit tight and wait for a valid jailbreak for 6.1.3 (or 7)? Thanks.

    • barbara says:

upgrade to 6.1.3 it is really better than 5 and wait for a new jailbreak ^^

      • Bob says:

Thanks for the reply, barbara. Upgrading to any Apple-only iOS would cause me to lose my Cydia apps, which I rely heavily upon (like iFile and VLC). So, I’d rather just stay on 5.0.1 and be able to continue to use them than upgrade and cross my fingers that a jailbreak will still be possible in the future. If I can’t upgrade to an iOS that is still breakable (via iFaith, for example), then I’ll just sit tight.

  42. Klod says:

My IPhone 5 crashed while installing some cydia tweaks & forced to restore with IOS 6.1.3. Jailbroken is gone . Looks like holding a stone piece that costs 52k… Please don’t hold next jailbroken for too long in hope for iOS 7… We r all looking to u guys… Gook luck & God Speed….

  43. Sam says:

Argh. I just find out about evasi0n and I was really excitied to jailbreak my device but I unknowingly updated to 6.1.3! Gawd I wish I didn’t… I hope evasi0n can make a jailbreak soon, but I do understand if they want to hold off until ios 7, but my iPod 4G won’t probably get ios 7. This suxx…..

  44. Chad Carter says:

My lock button on my iphone went out and with the new one it automatically updated to 6.1.3. This is a huge pain in the ass. I’d do just about anything if they would just release a 6.1.3 jailbreak for my 5

  45. Kriisan says:

im just wondering, would 10 pounds of donations be enough for you to start a ios 6.1.3 A5 device jailbreak, and if not how much because IM STARTING TO GET DESPERATE! i really desperately need the jailbreak for my ipod 5g which is on ios 6.1.3 ,is there anything i can do, ANYTHING so i can get it jailbroken?

  46. CheleD says:

I can’t seem to get an answer to my question. I still have 6.01 on my iPhone 5. I didn’t update to 6.02. I want to know how I can update to that one and NOT update to 6.03. I need to do that update for the data leak patch. Thanks in advance for any help in my issue.

    • Evasion Admin says:

Nope, you can ONLY update to iOS 6.1.3. Stay on iOS 6.0.1 if at all possible.

      • Chele_D says:

Thanks so much. That really blows :( Apple needs to get it head out of its rear and see that people want to be able to personalize >:( of course, then what would you guys have to do! :) thanks for all you do.

    • Sus says:

So going step by step, if you don’t match a single item, you cannot do it. period. 1) Your phone must be Jailbroken currently. 2) You must have downloaded and used iFaith & iREB during the time Apple released 6.0.2 (this is because after 6.0, Apple changed how it signed your phone’s “ok to upgrade” files called SHSH Blobs) 3) Download and run TinyUmbrella, turn on the TSS Service. This program pretends to be Apple’s validation server and checks your incoming SHSH blobs. (but they have to be valid) 4) Download the iOS 6.0.2 .ipsw (firmware file). 5) Open iTunes, plug in your phone and Shift-Click the upgrade button. This lets you choose which firmware to select, so navigate to your 6.0.2 .ipsw and the rest is automatic. If you get any errors in the process, its possible your SHSH blob is invalid, then you’re stuck, just like everyone else waiting on a functioning Jailbreak work-around for iOS 6+ >.<

      • Chele_D says:

Thanks. I guess I’m screwed. I didn’t use the programs in #2 :( Thanks so much for your help!

        • Evasion Admin says:

Don’t even worry about upgrading from 6.0.1 to 6.1.2, the changes between the firmwares aren’t significant by any means.

    • 3zrail says:

That’s easy write on pm to me :)

  47. Conduende says:

I really understand what the Evaders and P=six Ninja are doing about the Jailbreak of IOS 6.1.3 I own an Ipad 4 Ios 6.1.2 and was Jalbroken with Evasi0n. It works perfectly! I do not think I will have to restore it at anytime, as I do not Install tweaks, and tweaks, and more tweaks like a drug. The only thing I installed was merely for maintenance, BC Settings, Icleaner, Safari Download enabler and Ifile. For the rest of tweaks, I perefer not to install them, in Order to maintain my copy of Ios intact the maximum time possible. Please, do not blame Evaders, neither Evasi0n utility for the bloody mistakes of Apple. It is apple´s fault. This people of bloody Apple should have left the exploits openned, as they have to understand there were millions and millions of people jailbreaking their devices when Evasi0n was released. Apple should bare in mind that, when millions of people did it, it was just because they wanted it. If apple would take care of their customers (I am sure they are only worried about the money, like all fu..ing enterprises nowadays=no moral, neither Ethics) they then learned something about what the customers demand. So, please, read carefully this posts of Evasion Jailbreak, and stop blaming the Evasi0n team. Do not forget they are working for us, and giving us the Evasi0n tool for free. For God Sake!! In Spain, we use to say “Only good people know how to say thank you”. So, please, do not blame others, for the mistakes of your beloved mafia “apple”. Best regards from Valencia.

  49. Thomas says:

I know this has got nothing to do with this article but i think cydia should get a makeover. Make it a little bit easier to use for just normal users. Kinda annoying adding all the sources and packages and stuff

    • Surge says:

I totally agree! Cydia should really be more usable, especially for normal users. Also, there should be some more features, like bookmarking. The queue feature is OK but whenever i switch apps for a second i lose my queue. Plus its really buggy sometimes.

  50. Tomo1998 says:

If you say the evad3rs are finding exploits as well as p0sixninja. Why can’t the evad3rs finish off jailbreaking iOS 6 but wait until iOS 6.1.4 or iOS 6.2 because then more people are able to jailbreak. I have an iPhone 4S on an iOS 6.1.2 jailbreak as I know I cannot update. But sometimes I need to restore it to fix problems but I can’t because I don’t want to sacrafice my jailbreak. And then p0sixninja makes the jailbreak utillity for iOS 7.

  51. Saad Hassan says:

I would rather he open up a jailbreak for 6.3.1 instead of holding it off…because we know there won’t be a major difference in the Iphone 5s…and if you don’t already have an iphone 5 by ios7 release then dang.

  52. Alex says:

What exactly changed in why I can no longer downgrade my iPhone? I had so much stuff in my jailbreak until it restored itself.. and why can’t jailbreaks hold up their quality for longer? They start to fade after a bit..

  53. Zein Hammer says:

I would rather he open up a jailbreak for 6.3.1 instead of holding it off…because we know there won’t be a major difference in the Iphone 5s…and if you don’t already have an iphone 5 by ios7 release then dang.
