Downgrade iOS 9.1 to 9.0.2 And Jailbreak iOS 9 with Pangu; All iPhones, iPads and iPods - A mere four days ago Apple issued iOS 9.1 to the general public, which effectively patches the Pangu Untethered iOS 9 through 9.0.2 Jailbreak. While it currently remains possible to jailbreak both iOS 9 and iOS 9.0.2, Apple’s latest firmware is a different story. However, as of writing this article, it remains possible to revert your device by downgrading from iOS 9.1 to 9.0.2. As with all good things though, the window for downgrades won’t last, Apple could cease the signing window for 9.0.2 as early as tomorrow! Therefore, the staff of Evasi0n Jailbreak opted to bring our readers a simple and straightforward guide to empower them to easily downgrade iOS 9.1 to iOS 9.0.2 in order to once again jailbreak. For those of you interested in downgrading to iOS 9.0.2 with intent to jailbreak via Pangu, continue reading past the break.

iOS 9.1 Jailbreak

As an important important disclaimer, as mentioned above, this tutorial is in fact time sensitive. For example, once Apple stops signing iOS 9.0.2, it won’t be possible for any device to restore to the firmware no matter what - there’s no workaround after Apple ceases signing an iOS release.

iOS 9 Backups and DowngradesiOS 9 downgrade

Moreover, after downgrading and restoring from iOS 9.1 to iOS 9.0.2, the data that you’ve accumulated on 9.1 will not be transferable either via an iTunes or an iCloud backup; Apple simply doesn’t allow it. Either restore from an older data backup created on iOS 9.0.2 (or lower) or login to your iCloud account to retrieve as much cloud-based data as possible ensuing the downgrade.

To recap, this tutorial will walk you through the straightforward process of downgrading iOS 9.1 to 9.0.2 to jailbreak with Pangu on the following devices: iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, the original iPad mini, iPad 4, 3, 2 and both the iPod Touch 5th and 6th generation.

How to Downgrade from iOS 9.1 to 9.0.2

If, for whatever reason, you encounter complications during the Downgrade process, we strongly suggest watching the above video tutorial in its entirety, as it will ensure the success of your iOS 9 downgrade.

Step 1. Confirm that you’ve downloaded both the correct iOS 9.0.2 IPSW for your device and the latest iTunes 12.3.1 release from our below download section, as that’s the best way to receive official Apple-certified versions of both pieces of software.

Note: Windows users may be required to delete the .zip at the end in the name for their devices firmware file or extract it using Window’s default compression management before continuing past Step 3.

Step 2. Plug your iOS 9.1 device intended for downgrade into your computer via a standard Apple-issued USB cable and open iTunes.

Step 3. Disable ‘Find my Device’ inside the iCloud portion of the default Settings app - this allows the restore to actually process inside iTunes.

Step 4. Based on your computer, hold down either the Option (alt) or Shift key if you’re on Windows or Mac OS X respectively on your keyboard and left click the ‘Restore’ button inside the main device tab. Once a pop-up selection window appears, point iTunes at the corresponding iOS 9.0.2 IPSW file for your device and verify the restore.

Congratulations, after adhering to a mere four simple and easy-to-follow steps, you’ve successfully downgraded from 9.1 to iOS 9.0.2 on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch!
