With the public release of iOS 7 right around the corner (slated for mass release sometime in September) and with the evad3rs having confirmed that they won’t release an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak, development on the next major Untethered jailbreak utility will ensue promptly after the final version of iOS 7 is made available. Recently, a new and breaking report surfaced that suggested the iPhone 5S will be revealed on September 10th and released alongside iOS 7 soon after. Regarding iOS 7, was passing up a jailbreak for 6.1.3 worth it?
Absolutely. In the grand scheme of things, iOS 7 will not only bring hundreds of new features (the prominent ones are outlined in our in-depth article on the topic), but it will also be released alongside new iDevices.
In addition to releasing the iPhone 5S this fall, Apple is also expected to launch a less expensive iPhone for emerging markets dubbed the iPhone 5C, as well as new full-sized and mini iPad models. If the evad3rs and/or p0sixninja had released a 6.1.3 jailbreak, the vulnerabilities that could otherwise be saved for exploiting new devices, like the ones mentioned above, would go to waste.
Although the developers’ choice to wait appears to be the right one, we’re curious to hear what you, our readers, think. Wondering if I should upgrade to iOs 7. I’m on 5.0.1 right now Jailbroken on 4s, but I don’t like that I can’t get alot of the 6.0 apps I want and have a jailbreak.
All we have to do is wait. 6.1.3/6.1.4/7.0 will be jailbroken this September/October. If you cant wait why dont you start make your own jailbreak tool if u can? we’re not paying the devs, just be thankful that guys like them exist to share it for free.

Hello guys, I have a 3gs on 4.1 with bb 05.13.04 and am looking to up to 6.1.3. I am aware it will be tethered and not too fussed until an untethered comes out. I would like to ask a couple of questions I hope you can help me with. Firstly, will Ultrasn0w unlock this bb on 6.1.3? I have looked around and read conflicting reports , so I hope you can help. Secondly, if Ultrasn0w will unlock, should I make a custom IPSW preserving the bb? I have jb an ipad before but I’m a bit of a noob with iphone jb, this being my first. Any advice would be appreciated.

And I’m saying this because having the notifications available from the lock screen, for example, may be a great thing, but it may cause issues with security. That’s totally impossilbe. The only way to do something similar is to downgrade the software, but nowdays is still impossible.

You can’t downgrade versions, but u could back up your files and restore them to your i5

Say Apple release io7 and the evad3rs manages to JB it, and two weeks later Apple release a minor upgrade to patch the evad3rs JB, what then, do we have to wait for io8? To me it doesn’t make sense why exploits for 6.1.3 are being reserved for io7, the two are supposed to be completely different. evad3rs should just be honest to the public and tell us that they don’t have answers to Apple’s patches yet
I, we and evad3rs don’t know at all if 6.1.3/7.0 will have same exploits. Then is easier for them to create a jailbreak tool if they keep what it has been discovered. And yes, THERE WILL BE AN UNTETHERED JB from them ONLY after iOS 7 Gold Master is released. Not before, after.

Evad3rs will be releasing a tool for iOS 7.0, thats totally sure, but only after the Gold Master (final) version is released.

it is definitely worth it, 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 are minor updates while ios7 is the next big thing.
wouldve been nice if the evad3rs team did jailbreak 6.1.3 cuz i really want my iphone 4s to be jailbroken and i cant downgrade. my ipad 5.1.1 is jailbroken and i love it. but i think itd be worth jailbreaking ios 7 and if not, try to convince evad3rs to jailbreak ios 6.1.3 bcuz most of us will not upgrade to the new upcoming release. i will but i will also keep my ipad on 5.1.1 since it cant upgrade anyways due to it being a 1st gen. my point here being if we could have both, that would be life.
Yep, My i5 & 4S are on iOS7 Beta 6 is wishing, preying and waiting for Official iOS7 & Official Jailbreak because Beta is a lot of bug! and with no Jailbreak my phone is lack of colorful of Winterboard Theme at all. _/\_

You can already jailbreak an ipod touch 4g running 6.1.3 but it’s semi-untethered though
doesnt matter if its semi untethered. still not as fun as a fully untethered jailbreak period like the majority of us want. plus the process is stupid so i do not recommend it

If you have read, Java load times are faster, its amazingly Stable. If you have used it it is the most stable iOS yet. Wait ios7 so no hardships on developers also having to cross compatible rewrite code. Its just common sense patience. This will be in the past, and forgotten. I think iOS 7 will be released sooner as they are already done. I know there’s a date, but I have a feeling earlier launch date. They want it out there as much as we do. More purchases. My opinion, wait it out. Chill things will be tight and back to normal soon.
I think that they should have created a jailbreak for 6.1.3 because when they come up with a untether jailbreak for iOS 7 many of the tweaks may not work because the people who make these outstanding tweaks can barely make them work for iOS 6. Some of the tweaks that I buy doesn’t work really well and causes for my iPhone to restart in safe mode. I don’t want to upgrade my idevices to iOS 7 also cause I’ve tried iOS 7 beta 5 and had to restore it back to iOS 6.1.3. I’m sure the final release of iOS 7 hopefully will b better.

I stand by what I said about iOS 7 Beta 6, it is good and without resorting to swearing as seems to be the norm, if you have no choice then stick with iOS 6, it was way better than 5,4,3,2,1 but 7 is good, roll on a jailbreak after it is fully released. I do not see the point in demeaning those that wish to go forward, Apple are going forward and we should support those that write the jaibeeaks as they’ve always worked on previous loads anyway. People will complain about how “Oh, we did not have the betas back then so we would not know.” Well, based what I have been reading for the past four months, sounds like most of the betas suck. That argument is invalid. If they were to make a 6.1.3 jailbreak utility, it should have happened no later than to weeks to its release. Do it now is is as useless as trying to convince people that Mitt Romney would be a better president, three months after the election…

Okay, first of all, why not release a 6.1.3 JB for those devices that are unable to jailbreak, but release it ALONGSIDE iOS 7 JB? This (to me) makes far more sense and benefits everybody. seeing as the evad3rs are developing their exploits based on the iOS 7 Betas and 6.1.3, it seems to me that jailbreaking both with one utility, despite them being separate iOS generations makes a lot more sense. personally, when I update to iOS 7 i most likely will NOT JB again, as the main reason for me to jailbreak was for Notification center widgets (SBSettings) and iOS 7 has this. if not customizable enough, i may decide to JB again. you people stuck on 6.1.3 need to stop asking them to blow all their exploits on a sole 6.1.3 JB and think of other people. JB’ing 6.1.3 and 7.0 both seems like a far better solution. USE YOUR BRAINS PEOPLE! Well said brotha. I updated to iOS 7 Beta 5 because I broke my old 4S and the replacement came loaded with Apple’s current lameass unblobbable iOS. I figured anything would be better than 6.1.whatever. This Beta has a few minor bugs, but on balance I’m on much happier with it than when I had a 6.0 JB and all my Cydia apps. iOS 7 is already the sh*t. When they jailbreak it for us, I’ll feel like a kid in a candy store.

I sadly didnt realise that the 6.1.3 update would stop me from jailbreaking my ipad mini until it was too late. I dont know what ive missed as a result as it was not jailbroken in the first place. Guys show some respect to the Devs, they put a lot of there own time and effort in to these jailbreaks and i agree that its better to wait for IOS7 and use the exploits they know are still there rather than waste them on 6.1.3 and then have apple close the exploits and it take longer for a jailbreak for IOS7 to be released.

iOS 7 beta 6 arrived on my iPhone 5 this morning, please don’t trash a jailbreak on yesterdays iOS, iOS 7 is good, very good and except for the WiFi tools on my other development iPhone with iOS 6.1.2 JB, I use iOS 7 for everything else, it is that good. Don’t know about a 5S though, wait till next year and look at the iPhone 6 unless £600 appears by magic . iPhone - iPhone 3G - iPhone 3GS - iPhone 4 - iphone 4S - iphone 5 - iPhone ? Sad, but only cellphone I ever owned that was resold for over 50% each time all factory unlocked and pristine in their cases. Hate the Apple control mentality but love their equipment. John
I have to admit, I think iOS 7 (Beta 5) is beyond incredible. I can deal with not having a jailbreak - the number of little hidden features on this iOS is unbelievable. So many of my favorite Cydia apps are unnecessary now - Apple’s goal was obviously to disincentivize jailbreaking, but that wont happen. I will JB this 4S on iOS 7 as soon as I can. These people that talk about how they wouldn’t trade in their JB for iOS probably haven’t had time to play with iOS 7. I understand not wanting to give up any freedom over your phone and there are still some things that really suck about a mainstream iOS but it’s like trading in a GTO for an Audi R8. Sure you’re trading out the cool points, but the headlights alone will get you laid. Endless eye candy, crazy swipe features, total redesign, and improved functionality out the ying yang.
wtf is the point of an ios 7 jailbreak if close to no tweaks will work? ios 6.1.3 with all my tweaks on it make it way better than ios 7 could ever be. if i ever get a message on appstore saying i need to update to get the app i will just use vshare to get the older version that is compatible. i think everybody in the ios world lately are just bandwagons that think new is always better which obviously isnt true because look how shitty ios 6 is compared to 5. use your brains people.
Its just personal preference, some people prefer the new one while others like the old one. And when ios 7 comes out then the developers will have to update their tweaks… thats what happened with ios 6 too when it came out. I gave a 3GS the 6.13 and 6.14 are the fInal updates why not do everyone a favour an release the untethered jailbreak. Release for older devices so I can upgrade and then unlock

All i have is a 4gen Ipod touch. Not all of us can afford a new device just to jailbreak it. They really let us down. I also see other discontinued devices getting the UT jailbreak for their last firmware. But all we get is Semi-tether or Teathed jailbreak.

This is how it will work AFTER iOS 7 Jailbreak they will release 6.1.3 untethered if they use the same exploit because Apple cant change ios 6.1.3 anymore. If they release it BEFORE then Apple will patch the iOS 7 jailbreak because Apple CAN change it to patch it. Hope that made sense to the people who want it now. Be grateful that they are even releasing a jailbreak and if your lock button is broken how about getting a new one? Common sense.
I feel sorry for all of you out there on 6.1.3 and above. I’m on an iPhone 5 running on 6.1.2 and still have my evasion jailbrake. I’m happy to stay on this firmware until the jb ios7 is released. If the hackers jailbroke the 6.1.3 then apple might block it in the release of ios7 hence the caution. Good luck with the new jb
Great comment Wesley. When people are angry and upset because they upgraded it’s not the jailbreakers fault. You can simply have the cake now and then wait upto a year for another jailbreak or let this roll out and then a couple months theyre on top of Apple we want to be on top not apple.
Making everyone wait is a tactical ploy to gain a rush of supporters and money when it is about to be released. I believe, if you guys can brag about how good you are and seek the claim to fame, then show us your talents and release the untethered for 6.1.3/4 and give the consumer what they want and really “wow” us with an even better JB for iOS7. Starting to think your team is becoming limited or overcome by Apples determination. Fortunately, we will not have to rely on only one team to release JBs in the future. The wait is forcing upcoming Devs to go around you. We have some really exciting things happening behind closed doors as we speak. People will have choices. I definitely think ya’ll should wait to release the jailbreak. It’s not that far away, and I’m sure that once we do release the utility for iOS 7 there will also be one for 6.1.3 at that point, if it’s the same exploit. I understand why people are upset but I’m sure the majority of users have and use a device that will support iOS 7 so yes, please wait.
I don’t know where others are coming from, but *I* have a 3GS and 6.1.3 is the last firmware it will ever get! I HAD to go to 6.1.3 because a Cydia tweak had me a boot loop literally for 2 days that was beyond repair no matter which mode I tried and which tool I used. Because I’m stuck, and Cydia’s mishap with the 6.x SHSH blobs render them useless, my ONLY option would be to go back to 5.1.1 or earlier. The problem is, I really like iOS 6.x’s features! Losing them to go back to iOS 5.x or earlier would be hard to do. I’m spoiled because my iPod is running iOS 7 betas and I love it. With many of the new iOS’ features mimicking what jailbreakers can already do, I’d hate to lose that on my iPhone since it is my main device. I completely understand having to wait, but for those in my situation, an untethered JB for iOS 6.1.3 is our ONLY hope to be as current as possible with iOS’ rich features while still not being tied to our computers at home. We’re not trying to whine or be greedy, but we are afraid of being left completely behind and having to choose between a stock iOS (horrible!) or being an entire iOS behind (also horrible) just to be able to jailbreak! WHY OH WHY did Cydia have to lose the iOS *SIX* blobs?!?! Why couldn’t it have happened at iOS 5?!?! :-‘(
That’s just messed up. Some of us are stuck without a jailbreak because we have an incompatible device for ios 7. A large portion of us has broken buttons who can’t even do the jailbreak tethered. Then there’s me, the guy who was anxiously waiting for an untethered jailbreak for 6.1.3. Because of the bootloop that forced me into 6.1.3 without any SHSH not saved by Cydia. Then, my lock button broke, so I can’t even enter DFU mode to jailbreak tethered. Way to support everyone with newer devices and screw over older users like Apple does.
Your a dick, they supply these jailbreaks for free, developing them in the own time to benefit the masses. Stop thinking about yourself and appreciate all the hard work these people do for free. Ungrateful tool.
Dude, sounds like it’s time to pony up for a new phone. You want all the people who weren’t as dumb, or as clumsy or incautious, as you to have to do without a jailbreak because you can’t bear to part with your battered 3G? Time to blow taps on that handset.
There’s no need to be mean! He has a point! Yes, a new device would certainly solve it all. I suppose I must point out that we’re not all made of money and can run out to the Apple Store every time a new iPhone drops! I know I can’t because I can barely make my rent! My 3GS works GREAT — nothing broken at all. There’s no NEED to replace it other than vanity. I just would like it to continue WORKING the way I’ve become accustomed! I also have to point out that many of us support these devs thru their other apps. I can tell you since I first bought my iPhone I haven’t downloaded ANY paid apps except for TWO. One was $0.99 and one was $1.99 — I have spent close to 30 times that amount on Cydia apps! It just sucks to face the threat of losing them.
So I guess my point is: We CAN and WILL wait. We just would like to HEAR from a dev or two that *eventually* someone will find a way to help us basically negate the loss that Cydia’s issue caused us. That’s all.
I realuze that w out a jailbreak those whi create it are losing money. Therefore i am sure they we create it as soon as possible. All those who whine and complain show their mentality , fortunately it is not ALL ABOUT THEM. Patiently awaiting the work to b completed .
I’m very happy with iOS7 and looking forward to a JB for it. But for those of you still whining about being unable to update an older device - how old are we talking? iPhone 3 or 3S? Time to get a new one people! Progress doesn’t go backwards!
We’re not all made of money! Perhaps their should be a “Donate-Your-iPhone-4-&-Newer” Program for those that ARE made of money for those of us that are less fortunate. Believe us…we’d upgrade if we could!
ok I and a lot of iphone users in ios 6.1.3 need jailbreak untethered. Maybe untethered jailbreak for ios 6.1.3 not being released at the moment but I expect will be launched after the jailbreak ios 7. I believe you will not disappoint us … thanks very much

If an iOS 7 jailbreak uses same exploits as 6.1.3, why not release a 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak??? Some people are STUCK on 6.1.3 FOREVER because they accidentally updated and are running a device that will not have an iOS 7 update! Think of all of the 6.1.3 4g iPod Touches! And I have a broken Lock button so its even more annoying for me that I cant jailbreak to shake to lock/unlock.

I just said my lock button is broken. I cant keep putting it in DFU mode. unless you know a way other than biting the lock button to put a broken iPod in DFU mode, I’m screwed.

Agree with waiting, but the downtime of developers making new jailbreak utils etc, users not having there devicesjailbroken for somlongcan and probably did stop some projects IE| Updates etc. nonetheless we will wait, and be happy as everyone will be on ios7 and know one can bitch and make fixes for cross platform iOS 6 ie. g’day

To be honest it really is. I have an iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 both jailbroken. one on 6.1.3 and the other 6.1.2 and to be honest iOS 6.1.3 isn’t worth the exploits.

Redsn0w 0.9.15 beta 3 has a semi-untethered jailbreak for pre-A5 devices on iOS 6.1.3 so, that is probably what they used or a tethered jailbreak or a semi-tethered jailbreak
Use iReb to put it device in owned dfu. Then download thr 6.1.2 firmware then shift+restore and find firmware. Ur still in recovery mode Then boot up again with ibooty or recboot
