Is it possible to Jailbreak 6.1.3?
Yes, it’s possible to jailbreak an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or a 4th generation iPod touch on iOS 6.1.3 using Redsn0w. Unfortunately, because Apple patched a number of the exploits utilized by the evasi0n jailbreak utility, it’s not currently possible to jailbreak the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini or the 5the generation iPod touch on 6.1.3.
Redsn0w utilizes Geohot’s limera1n exploit form 2010, which is a hardware based vulnerability that cannot be patched by Apple for the devices it supports simply by releasing a new firmware. That’s why older devices are supported by the 6.1.3 jailbreak, while newer devices cannot make use of redsn0w to accomplish the same task. Furthermore, older iDevices jailbroken on 6.1.3 will be jailbroken by what’s referred to as a Tethered jailbreak, meaning users will be required to reboot their device using redsn0w every time it powers off. However, that being said, it’s possible to install a Semi Tethered or a Semi UnTethered jailbreak following the Tethered Redsn0w jailbreak.
Semi UnTethered or Semi Tethered vs. Untethered and Tethered
There are a few terms that are important to remember when it comes to jailbreaking. The most important are Tethered and Untethered. As detailed in the answer to the previous question, a Tethered jailbreak requires the user to reboot the device using a utility every time they wish to reboot it into its fully-functional jailbroken state. Alternatively, devices that are jailbroken by means of an Untethered jailbreak utility (like Evasi0n) can fully reboot without the assistance of a computer or a utility.
It gets tricky when the terms “Semi Tethered” and “Semi UnTethered” are thrown around, which are simply two different terms used for the same type of jailbreak. Once an individual jailbreaks his or her iPhone or iPod touch using the Tethered RedSn0w jailbreak, they can then install a package from Cydia that converts the Tethered jailbreak into a semi Untethered jailbreak. A semi Untethered jailbreak will then allow the device to at least reboot without the assistance of a computer, acting as a life line of sorts if preforming a Tethered reboot is improbable at any given time. To regain full functionality after rebooting a device that’s jailbroken on 6.1.3 by means of a semi Untethered jailbreak, all that’s required is a simple tethered boot with Redsn0w.
Downgrade from 6.1.3 to 6.1.2 for Evasi0n Jailbreak?
Once users understand the answer to the first question in this jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 Q&A article and realize that 6.1.3 patches the evasi0n Untethered jailbreak for all iDevices, preceding questions are often related to downgrading and whether or not it’s possible to downgrade from 6.1.3. Will there be an Untethered Jailbreak for 6.1.3?
Unfortunately, the answer is simply no, the evad3rs will not update evasion to include untethered jailbreak support for 6.1.3. Apple’s latest firmware is nothing more than a minor update and the evad3rs won’t waste valuable exploits without the release of a major update and newer iDevice models. However, the evad3rs plan to develop another Untethered jailbreak from scratch for future firmwares. With that said, the UnTethered Evasi0n Jailbreak still functions on all iOS devices running 6.0 through 6.1.2. We strongly advise following our in-depth written tutorial if your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is on a pre-iOS 6.1.3 firmware.

I jailbroke my iPod 4 with redsn0w and there’s no cydia, I used DropCopy an Apple App to Veiw my file root and it had the Cydia.app in it, So I tried to reboot and it rebooted tethered without my PC, I did get battery % to work though…

I see a lot of the people here are whining like babies. My mom recently got a 4s, its the first iphone I have worked with coz im a nokia fan. I finally read up and understood how jailbreaking works and the speakers stopped working on the 4s, I had to send it for repairs. They didn’t repair the fault and I just got a new phone which came with 6.1.3. its tough luck for all of us that have this we just have to wait. Actually, the reason that Apple will never integrate the jailbreaks are because they want their consumers to be dependent on them. Imagine buying a car from a dealership only to get free body kit parts and upgrades from a different distributor. I understand that updating to anything above 6.1.2 and losing you jailbreak is your own fault, but I have a iPhone 5 and it was on 6.1 and about a week ago the pixels on the bottom corner went and I had to get a new iphone. The one they gave me was updated to 6.1.4 so I can’t jailbreak it even if I want and it really sucks for others that had to get replacement iPhones and are stuck without jailbreaks. On top of that we have to wait all the way till the 5S comes out for a jailbreak. If I could I would of just kept my old phone had I known the new one was updated.

Guys.. If you all stayed up to date and read a little Evasion clearly said Do Not Update past 6.1.2. Why would they release a jailbreak for ppl that don’t listen? There are a limited windows they can use to get in for a jailbreak to work. If the patch every update we will run out of these windows and then you’ll complain when 7 is out, why can’t we JB 7. I donated for my sprint iPhone 5 and update to AT&T so now I’m locked out also but I’m not gonna complain. It’s part of the game. Stop complaining before they take if away from us all and then what? No. Tethered means if you power down or restart your iDevice then it won’t reboot without repatching it by connecting it to a computer. Tethered means it’ll restart in a jail broken state. apple is not signing 6.1.2 anymore. they will only sign the newest updates, to stop people from downgrading so they can run unpached firmware to take advantage of the Evai0n jailbreak. you would need to make custom a ISPW from saved blobs, witch you can only do on older A4 devices

You can find your SHSH blobs using Tiny umbrella…. Its easy just download it and connect your ipad and follow the steps shown………;)

My iPhone got stuck on the Apple logo. I tries volume up and start so it takes me to safe mode but well. Bad luck I guess, it didn’t. Now I feel pretty frustrated since I hate the stock iOS. Re: Semi untethered jailbreak, 6.1.3 If I do a semi untethered jailbreak on my iphone 4, ios 6.1.3 what will and won’t work if I have to reboot without linking up to a computer? If its just that it won’t be in its jailbroken state (eg able to use Cydia) thats ok but will the phone work as normal as if hadnt been jailbroken (eg. texts, phone, safari etc)? I have read the article below but it doesn’t explain what works without full functionality: “A semi Untethered jailbreak will then allow the device to at least reboot without the assistance of a computer, acting as a life line of sorts if preforming a Tethered reboot is improbable at any given time. To regain full functionality after rebooting a device that’s jailbroken on 6.1.3 by means of a semi Untethered jailbreak, all that’s required is a simple tethered boot with Redsn0w.” Thanks
In a tethered jailbreak, the phone typically will only boot to the Apple screen without being connected and using Redsn0w. What a semi-tethered jailbreak does is allow the phone to, at least, boot to Springboard. Some programs don’t work (i.e. nothing can be installed from Cydia — if it will even launch, and in the past Safari wouldn’t launch). The major advantage is if you aren’t near a computer and your phone’s battery dies, you can at least use it to make calls.

Made a mistake… I’ve had these photos on my jailbroken iPad2 [on version 6.1(10B141)] that were impossible to remove (from prior iTunes syncing long ago). Anyway, I learned recently that I could SSH into my iPad using Open SSH and thought that I might be able to find the pictures and delete them directly. Easier said than done! In short, I apparently corrupted some files in my /private/var/mobile/media/PhotoData directory… even though I saved copies of all the files and thought I could just put them back! So, due to the corruption, the Photo app no longer opens and it has broader ramifications (settings like Photo Frame and Brightness won’t open either because they rely on Photos too.) Enough background! My question: I figure that I have no choice but to Restore to fix the issues BUT I don’t want iTunes to upgrade me to 6.1.3 in the process. Is there any way to Restore back to precisely where I was on 6.1 without upgrading? Or, alternatively, is there any way to put “clean” files back into that directory that would solve the problem? Any thoughts, most appreciated! I don’t want to lose my jailbreak over this stupidity! Thanks.
Forget it! I fixed it. Took a deep breath and just deleted the PhotoData folder altogether… And the OS was smart enough to rebuild it from scratch. All good.

Some fonts from “Bytafont” don’t show the small letters. But thats normal. Change the font and thats all.

Hello everyone… i bought iPad mini few weeks ago with ios 6.1 and try to jailbreak, luckily it was successfully installed the cydia, then i proceed to install iPhoneCake and it was successfully done, but when i attemp to install “appcake hd” it can’t be installed… after the “Done: AppCake HD” then “Size mismatch”. anybody can tell me what to do in this situation…? can i reset this cydia so i can proceed again and totally jailbroke this iPad mini? the size mismatch errors and suchlike are usually caused by bad repo names or lagging repos (server side). i found that neither of these things were my problem and it happened to be my network operator effectively blocking the repo (bigboss in my case) you may want to check to see if a vpn works (i used ultra vpn)install and activate the vpn profile and then retry cydia repos. If this works you should get on to your network operator and have the restricted content lock lifted.

hey i currently have an iphone4 thats running on ios 6.1.2 with 4.12.05 firmware and has recently been jailbroken but i was wondering if it is at all possible to downgrade this phone to ios 5.1.1 considering i cant seem to get my shsh blobs for 6.1.2 but it says when plugged into the comp that i can get 6.1.3 blobs.. i have tried to stitch 5.1.1 ipsw with the 6.1.3 blobs but i continue to get an error message.. can anyone help? thnx

have you both tried to restore through redsn0w? create a custom ipsw using sn0wbreeze and then restore using the created ipsw using redsn0w. if you have 6.1.3 blobs then they can only be stitched into a corresponding 6.x.x ipsw. You HAVE to have the right blobs for the right ipsw . check cydia under the new tss section on the main page as this will give you an idea of what blobs you have saved. if you have 5.1.1 blobs then all is good if not then unfortunately you have to wait until Ios 7 as the evasi0n team are not attempting to re-address such a small update (damn Apple lol)I hope this helped best regards Jim

You can downgrade your current ios but it is very difficult. I recondmend using EVASIOn to jailbreak my ipod 4g, because REDSN0W says missing keys. OK so my ipod 5g was on 6.1.2, I jailbroke it and was installing apps from cydia, i was almost done when I installed pdanet, dumb on my part considering I have no phone modem in a ipod touch, anyway when I respring/rebooted from cydia it came up trying to re-activate and it will not activate I can use sbsettings to get to the desktop but nothing will open when I click on the icons, notification center won’t drop down and apps will not finish installing, iTunes gives an 0Exxxxxx error, is there anything I can do to fix this without update and restore, itunes will not allow reinstall of 6.1.2 it will either give 3194 error or 1601 depending on where I point the host file, tried using tinyumbrella’s tss server and get the 1601 error. Thanks in advance for any help did many restarts before I installed pdanet and tetherMe one of those had to cause the problem and pdanet was the last respring before the issue, in case you wondering why I installed them I was setting it up from the list in my phone and forget it was a ipod touch not a phone… again Thanks for any help.. really don’t want 6.1.3.on it and have not installed that yet!!!

If the iPhone 5S adds more RAM, faster processor and better camera I’ll upgrade; with or without a larger screen. I’m tired of Apple fighting to shutdown jailbreak’s, which makes me consider switching back to the Android operating system for a while. Most of the popular android brands come with unlocked boot loaders and are easily rooted and I miss that cooperation given by the manufacturers. Apple needs to leave well enough alone and allow consumers to do whatever they want with their purchased property.

Since you are still on 5.1.1, I presume that you don’t have SHSH blob for 6.1.2 and hence it is not possible to upgrade to this firmware
Here’s the best solution. Get an android device, don’t need stupid shsh blobs to downgrade, just download odin, firmware and away you go. There really should be a team if hackers making downgrade firmware programs and custom roms for iDevices, just like xda do for android.
Do you have an Android? If not, I’m sure you could sell your Iphone and purchase one and stay connected to xda which does a wonderful job with those phones. And then you could quit trolling here!! Or better yet, volunteer to lead the team of hackers, keep them organized and on plan to get the downgrade software finished. Just be sure you don’t ask for money or time from anyone, Evasi0n, Absinthe, Greenpois0n, etc. don’t. Let us know when you begin so we can bug you till that project is finished
Hi, I’ve just brought a 2nd hand iPhone 5 that was jailbroken to iOS 6.1.2 and had a T-mobile sim (EE). I’m also on EE but have an orange sim, I regrettably plugged into iTunes and de-jailbroke it to iOS 6.1.3, now my phone shows in the top left corner EE and 3G but have no signal bars, not only that, I can use my Internet via my 3G contract but can not send or receive calls or txt…. In the settings/about it says : network EE, line : EE and carrier : EE. I have checked the IMEI and that’s ok…. Does anyone have any help….plz

But I do a terrible mistake deleting cydiainstaler even the icon on the springboard dissapear, also I really can’t install it again from anyone .deb .ipa The Max status fixing this problem was result on “cydia icon on the springboard but open and close inmediatly” even trying the WinSCP method (that worke for me earlier), anyway.. by all this sadness that is invading my life without cydia and the custom apps; I want to restore my 6.1.2 to then make then jalibreak again by evasión 1.5. My mad respect to appreciate the answer of “Restore” is possible in my case? Keep believing on Free Software, for the jail of control . Super Users, yes, we can!

If you unplug your iPhone, you MAY be able to hold down the power and home buttons together to have it reboot. This will ONLY work if the restore has just begun - if your iPhone 5 is on iOS 6.1.3 already, there’s no way to downgrade.

No, Apple has closed the signing window for 6.1.2, you can ONLY officially restore to iOS 6.1.3. The only way you’d be able to restore to 6.1.2 is if you have your 6.1.2 SHSH blobs backed up for your iPod touch 4G. If you’re already on 6.1.2, count yourself lucky and just jailbreak with Evasi0n 😀

Your article says that you can downgrade to 6.1.2 using saved SHSH blobs from saurik’s server but this is not the case. The only way you can downgrade is if you saved your blobs locally. The blobs that have been saved in cydia do not have all of the essential info. I spent hours trying and finally found several posts regarding this.
The blobs from Saurik’s server will, in most cases, only work properly if they were locally saved and then backed up

You’ll only be able to upgrade to iOS 6.1.3. If you wish to retain your jailbreak, you cannot upgrade past 5.1, sorry - a downgrade method doesn’t exist at the moment for your device.
