iOS 6.1.2 Reportedly Slated For Release Next Week, Can Evasi0n Jailbreak 6.1.2?

iOS 6.1.2 Reportedly Slated For Release, Possibility of Evasi0n Jailbreak For 6.1.2 - Yesterday, a German site named iPhone-Ticker issued a report that proposes Apple will release iOS 6.1.2 within the first half of next week to correct an Exchange bug and an issue pertaining to the iOS lock screen - both of which exist in iOS 6.1. As suggested by iPhone-Ticker’s unnamed sources, 6.1.2 is likely scheduled for release sometime before February 20th. Like with Apple’s recent release of the iPhone 4S-exclusive 6.1.1 firmware, iOS 6.1.2 will be a relatively small update; correcting only the Exchange and lock screen bugs. With that in mind, it’s likely that, similar to 6.1.1, Apple will not patch the exploits utilized by evasi0n to create an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 through 6.1.1.

iOS 6.1.2 Slated for Release Next Week, Will Evasi0n Jailbreak 6.1.2 UnTethered?

Jailbreak 6.1.2 iOS Firmware Release

Furthermore, with such a rushed timeframe for a release, we may see an UnTethered Jailbreak for iOS 6.1.2 shorty after its release - all that’s required on the evaders’ part is to update the compatibility for evasi0n.

On a related note, last week’s iOS 6.1.1 beta release, which brought a number of changes and improvements to Apple’s Maps app for Japanese users, is an entirely different firmware from the public version of iOS 6.1.1. Apple deemed correcting a peculiar bug that impacts the performance of the iPhone 4S’ battery when connected over 3G more important than the changes included in the 6.1.1 beta, thus pushing the firmware back. While it was previously believed that last week’s beta would be released as 6.1.2, it’s more likely that, given this new report on 6.1.2, the beta will be pushed back yet again and could very well be released as 6.1.3.

There’s a strong chance that iPhone-Ticker’s intel is accurate, as they were able to successfully publicize details pertaining to iOS 6.1.1 and suggested that it had escalated beyond testing phases only hours prior to its public release.
