UnTethered iOS 6.1 Jailbreak Release Date, Support Confirmed

Untethered iOS 6.1 Jailbreak Release Date - In addition to iOS 6.1′s release yesterday, MuscleNerd (leader of the iPhone Dev Team and contributing member of the evad3rs) tweeted a plethora of incredible information and details pertaining to the 6.1 UnTethered evasi0n jailbreak. But first, to preface, it was revealed last week that MuscleNerd, planetbeing, pod2g and pimskeks formed a new ‘Dev Team’ - dubbed the evad3rs - to complete development of the untethered iOS 6 and 6.1 jailbreak.

UnTethered iOS 6 Jailbreak 6.1 Release Date - Support Confirmed

Until today, the timeframe for a 6.1 untethered jailbreak was rather vague and indefinite, as numerous influential contributors to the jailbreaking world simply stated a utility would be released after Apple issues the latest firmware to the public. Thankfully, MuscleNerd has released additional details to help clarify the evad3rs’ plans for a release.

In a concise and to-the-point tweet, MuscleNerd stated that those following fake evad3rs twitter accounts will miss the “excitement this week”. Furthermore, for those who asked for a specific date, thankfully MuscleNerd provided an answer. In a followup tweet, he asked whether his followers knew the Super Bowl is this Sunday and slyly posed the following question: “What will you be doing?”, while also copying the official @evad3rs twitter handle and evad3rs.com. In not so many words, MuscleNerd has unofficially confirmed that the iOS 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak will be released on Sunday, February 3rd.

Additionally, MuscleNerd confirmed that the forthcoming UnTethered jailbreak will support all iOS devices on 6.1, except the Apple TV 3, which includes the following: the iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation, iPad mini, iPod touch 5th generation, iPhone 4S, iPad 3rd generation, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4th generation, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS and the Apple TV 2.

Finally, as a precautionary measure, both MuscleNerd and pimskeks warned users to stay away from Apple’s iOS 6.1 OTA (over the air update) and instead upgrade via iTunes. While users who have already upgraded through the OTA update feature will likely still be able to jailbreak when the time comes, the iTunes restore method will ensure your device can successfully jailbreak without encountering errors.

Now, this is all very exciting, but is this an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.0.1 as well? Or just 6.1?
