Jailbreak 6.0.1, iOS 6 for iPhone 4, 3Gs and iPod touch 4th Generation using Redsn0w

Jailbreak 6.0.1 for iPhone 4, 3Gs and iPod touch 4th Generation using Redsn0w Yesterday, a popular iOS tutorial YouTuber named iCrackUriDevice released an updated jailbreak iOS 6.0.1 tutorial using RedSn0w. While the new 6.0.1 version has utility has yet to be officially supported through Redsn0w, there’s a simple workaround that enables iOS-device users to jailbreak on 6.0.1 and install Cydia.

Unfortunately, even though it’s possible to utilize Redsnow for 6.0.1, iDevice users can only jailbreak iOS 6 (6.0.1) using what’s referred to as a Tethered jailbreak. Naturally, iPhones and iPods jailbroken with this method will need to be rebooted with the assistance of the RedSnow jailbreak utility every time they power off.

Jailbreak iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 4th Gen on iOS 6.0.1

Furthermore, due to the nature of this Tethered jailbreak, only devices powered by Apple’s A4 processor or earlier are compatible, which includes the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and the 4th Generation iPod touch. Here’s a list of supported iOS devices:

  • iPhone 4
  • iPod touch 4th Gen, 4G
  • iPhone 3GS

The newer A5, A5X, A6 and A6X devices are unfortunately left out. If you own one of the following iOS-based devices, it’s not compatible with this iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak and is thus not jailbreakable:

  • iPod touch 5th Generation
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4S
  • 3rd Gen iPad 3
  • iPad 4, fourth Generation

How-to Jailbreak 6.0.1 and iOS 6 for A4

1. Download the latest version of Redsn0w and the iOS 6.0 IPSW (not 6.0.1) from the download section near the end of this tutorial and ensure that your iPhone or iPod is running Apple’s 6.0.1 firmware.

Note: If you’re on windows Vista or windows 7, 8, you’ll need to right click Redsnow, set the compatibility mode for windows XP service pack to and grant Administrative privileges.

2. Run RedSn0w - for OS X  MAC users, right (control) click the utility and click open.

3. Click Extras -> Select IPSW feature, browse for and point it towards the iOS 6 IPSW file (not 6.0.1) to proceed with the jailbreak. After the file has been successfully identified by RedSnow, click the Back button to return to the main screen for Redsnow.

4. Select Jailbreak, ensure that the option to Install Cydia was checked by default, continue and set your iOS-device into DFU mode.

  • To Enter Device Firmware Update mode: Press and hold the home and power buttons together for a total of ten seconds, once ten seconds has passed, release the power button and continue to hold the home button for an additional ten to fifteen seconds.

5. Wait for the process to complete and for your jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch to reboot - you’ll then need to continue and boot Tethered.

How to Boot Tethered:

As previously mentioned in this jailbreak tutorial, you’ll be required to boot tether to see Cydia and every time you need to power your iPhone or iPod on. To boot Tethered, simply open RedSnow and click to Extras, followed by Just Boot.

Surgery is the very last resort for the treatment of cures for plantar fasciitis. Stripping and stretching is another great way to prevent this painful foot condition and are not advised by podiatrists. If you are prone to cures for plantar fasciitis. Pounding your feet on the same side of the patient’s pain. I have run almost all my mileage in them.

So this Guide can be use on iPhone 4s 6.0?

  31. Dee says:

This didnt work for Iphone3gs.. F.Y.I

    • admin says:

Yes, it does, we’ve personally tested it. In rare instances, you’ll need to restore. We recommend first backing up in iTunes, then restoring to 6.0.1, jailbreaking and, finally, restoring from your iTunes backup!

      • RMG says:

With my 3GS, I had to restore the 6.01 after the first two attempts. The third time it worked perfectly after I installed the 6.0 ipsw prior to the “just boot”. My phone still shows that I have 6.01 installed and iTunes even says that my firmware is current.

  32. Dan H. says:

Yeah, everyone is getting impatient about the untethered jailbreak not being here yet, but I can wait. Everything that cydia has to offer isn’t updated to ios 6 yet, and Installous doesn’t even work. I don’t even see a point in jailbreaking it tethered at all. Everyone should just wait for the untethered jailbreak, and just try to live with being unjailbroken for the time being.

    • Beanerhackers69 says:

Yes installous does work on ios 6 jailbroken I added this source cydia.hackulo.us And then clicked on installous and let it do its thing and it said reboot and im like ok then and when i booted up i tested it and it works

  33. Jay How says:

After jailbreakin, i tried to tethered boot and when “waitin for reboot” came on it said: Missing Keys.plist data for this build

    • Jay How says:

NVM. Im sorry. I didnt select the ipsw again. U have to select it again before bootin.

      • admin says:

In certain situations, you don’t need to select the IPSW before booting tethered. However, we’ve found that it’s ALWAYS best to select the IPSW first if Redsn0w hasn’t been updated to natively support the firmware you’re jailbreaking!

  34. Nancy says:

I have the iphone 4s with iOS 6.0, I havent updated the version to be able to jailbreak. Will the tethered one work?

    • admin says:

Unfortunately, it will not. Tethered jailbreaks utilize Geohot’s limera1n exploit, which is patched for the iPhone 4S. Be sure to follow us, like us and subscribe to our news feed to be notified on any and all iPhone 4S jailbreak details!

  35. esaul says:

i did everything and followed all the steps but cydia does not show up on my home screen.

    • admin says:

Try to boot tethered again. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to restore to a clean version of iOS 6.0.1. We recommend backing up in iTunes, restoring to 6.0.1, jailbreaking and, finally, restoring from your iTunes backup!

  36. Nathan says:

You people with the newer A5, A5X, A6 and A6X devices need to stop demanding for time frames, learn to have patience, and understand that this is a free service you are not being charged money for! Same for those who ask about a un-tethered jailbreak!

    • Michael says:

Agreed, everyone is impatient for an untethered jb for all devices on iOS 6, but that takes time. The only thing that may speed up the process would be to donate large amounts of money to the dev team, but that is a BIG maybe

  37. Ali says:

    I need untethered????????????????????????

  38. Marco says:

We need Jailbreak for iOS6.0 A5 processor Please!!!

  39. Tima says:
