UnTethered 7.1 Jailbreak Situation And Alleged iOS 8 Screenshots Leaked

Jailbreak 7.1 Situation Explained and Alleged iOS 8 Screenshots Leaked - Recently, as a number of our readers are aware, Apple released iOS 7.1 to the general public, effectively patching the evasi0n7 UnTethered utility and, in turn, making it impossible to jailbreak 7.1 using evasi0n. Unfortunately, for those who were forced into upgrading to 7.1, it can be hard to comprehend the reality and gravity of the situation. However, in today’s article, we’ll discuss the current UnTethered iOS 7 jailbreak, the new iOS 7.1 firmware, alleged leaked iOS 8 screenshots and the future of jailbreaking. First, it’s important to realize that Apple closed a number of key vulnerabilities in iOS 7 that the evad3rs exploited in evasi0n7 to achieve an UnTethered jailbreak on iOS 7.0 through 7.0.6, rendering the tool useless on devices running iOS 7.1.

iOS 7.1 Jailbreak Situation and “Leaked” iOS 8 Screenshots

In light of that fact, there isn’t currently a method to jailbreak 7.1 UnTethered on any iOS-based device and, unfortunately, there won’t be.

The evad3rs (the only active Dev Team on the jailbreak scene) simply won’t release a new UnTethered jailbreak tool until after Apple pushes out both iOS 8 and the company’s next round of iDevices.

Although it may seem absurd to some that the evad3rs would wait so long to issue their next jailbreak utility to the public, the team doesn’t want to burn through valuable exploits, only to have Apple patch said exploits with the release of another minor firmware. The jailbreak community was in the same situation last year after Apple patched the original evasi0n tool with the release of 6.1.3 - a new jailbreak wasn’t made available to the public until after Apple released iOS 7, 7.0.1, 7.0.2, 7.0.3, 7.0.4, the iPhone 5S, the Retina iPad mini and the iPad Air.

If the evad3rs are going to release a tool that will inevitably be patched, the team wants to ensure their decision is justified and will actually accomplish something worthwhile (i.e. jailbreaking iOS 8 and newer devices).

With that said, a somewhat recent report from 9to5Mac publicizes screenshots of what is purportedly an iPhone running an early build of iOS 8 with new Healthbook, Tips, TextEdit and Preview apps.

Originally posted on a Chinese microblogging site, the images are nothing short of questionable, especially considering the OS X-esque icons, which are claimed to be placeholders. For more details and information on both the alleged iOS 8 screenshots and the future of jailbreaking, we highly recommend watching iCrackUriDevice’s latest video, which is embedded above.
