How to Jailbreak 8.1 Untethered with Pangu for iOS 8 on iPhone 6 Plus 5S, 5C, 4S iPad Mini 3, Air 2, 4 and iPod Touch 5^th generation - Wow - it’s actually here - today, Pangu released their all-new utility to jailbreak 8.1 fully UnTethered: Pangu for iOS 8.0 through 8.1.x! However, before you get too excited, there’s one catch, which is a rather significant one. As of now, the Pangu jailbreak for 8.1 doesn’t install Cydia, as Saurik (the creator of the aforementioned third-party graphical tweak distribution and acquisition interface) has yet to update Cydia Substrate for iOS 8. The way things currently stand, Pangu for iOS 8 is mostly intended for jailbreak developers to get a jump on creating iOS 8-compatible tweaks, as the utility enables full root access, and enables SSH, which is jailbreaking on a fundamental and rudimentary level. However, seeing as there’s no way to determine when the loopholes exploited by Pangu’s new utility will be patched by an updated 8.1.x firmware, those interested in jailbreaking should take advantage of the current opportunity to do so, as you’ll be able to install Cydia once Saurik successfully updates Cydia Substrate for iOS 8 through 8.1.x! I had a similar problem that I solved by restoring 8.1 to factory settings then running Pangu.

Currently, the only way to jailbreak on mac is to install a windows virtual machine and run the jailbreak software on it.

Crash Override, NICE TALKING, I think they are greatfully but Just pis off for the issue Cydia. Your words going to help much people because of the easy way you have explained. There are a lot people that find the tips and workout for install Cydia to difficult or have no time because of work. Jailbreak going realative fast but the work for complete the settings - apps and tweaks cost many hour. So I respect this young people that gives us the possibility to jailbreak. Because of time I will wait with the jailbreak. I’m now on 7.1.2 , when cydia is infiltrated in the jailbreak than i check to update iTunes and iPhone and go for it. Thanks for your hint!

Search on google or latest post here how to install cydia (it was there from few hour after pangu jailbreak) Im on iPhone 5 and what I can say that appcake will not install apps because of appsync I think. I will try with iFunbox and see if that work.

What a feeding frenzy! Kudos again to the Pangu Team, BUT the most important line in today’s News is (IMHO): “… Pangu for iOS 8 is mostly intended for jailbreak developers to get a jump on creating iOS 8-compatible tweaks…”
@Tommy- You nailed it above. We’re just now getting all of our tweaks updated after JailBreaking with Pangu 7.x; why start all over again now at 8.1—and without Cydia?!

Good for you Jonp! ???? I’m so glad the advise has helped you. I wish you luck on installing Cydia… I found it to be quite a todo. My joy meter was at a 2 out of 10. It sure spiked back up when I did it though. I’m rather surprised how many of my tweaks were still working! I expected almost none of them would. I do miss infinidock oh so much. I pray that it will be modified to accommodate iOS 8! PANGU AND SAURIK RULE!!!

I’m still happily running 7.1.2 on my 5s and I don’t like updating unless I have to.
Due to this release many will be forced into updating their devices to 8.1 before Apple stop signing the firmware.
My phone is beautifully customised and I hate having to change it. It’s a total pain in the arse.
When pangu for 7.1.2 was released it was over 2 months before most of the tweaks I used were available from iOS 6.x
What is the point in releasing this so early?

You can install cydia but manulay. Use ssh to install it! Lot of things dont work but you can install. I have it.

I successfully jailbroke my iphone 6 plus, be sure to turn off icloud first. It does recognize my fingerprint still, eveyrthing seems to still work great.

Make sure that you have find my phone turned off and iTunes is updated BEFORE JB. And back your device up as well! Hope this helps. BTW… You can always turn of find my phone remotely on a computer.

Someone help me ! I´m trying to jailbreak my iphone 5S with iOS 8.1 using the pangu utility but the status bar of the process don´t continuous, stop in something that should be an “icloud” problem. Is there anyone with the same problem?

It says in the video that if you upgraded to 8.1 through owa that there will be problems so you will half to back up your phone and then do a clean restore install the jailbreak and then put your backup back on
