iOS 8.1.1 Threatens Everything - Jailbreak 8.1 Now, Read This Before It’s Too Late

iOS 8.1.1 Threatens Everything, Jailbreak 8.1 Now and Read This Before it’s Too Late - An interesting time is upon us: the calm before the storm. In what will likely be a matter of hours, possibly days depending on the ultimate sequence of events, Apple will forever alter the course of the Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8’s history. With the company’s inevitable release of iOS 8.1.1, Apple will effectively patch the latest UnTethered jailbreak for all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models, including the newer iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad mini 3 and the A8X-equipped iPad Air 2. Prior to delving into the inner workings of the latest jailbreak situation, it’s important to realize what goes into the creation of a jailbreak utility, at least at rudimentary level. Essentially, jailbreaks must deliver unsigned code to an iDevice to accomplish the end goal of enabling root access, which allows boundless and limitless potential from a software standpoint, as root access is required to continually run code that isn’t signed, and approved, by Apple - i.e. iOS 8.1 jailbreak tweaks, packages and modifications. We’ve only just scratched the surface though - for more on what it means to develop a jailbreak, Pangu’s all-new jailbreak iOS 8.1 utility and Apple’s forthcoming iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak-patching update, continue reading past the break!

Jailbreak 8.1 Now, But What About An iOS 8.1.1 Jailbreak? Everything Will Change!

Jailbreak 8.1.1 Untethered
Now, with the desired outcome understood, you may be asking how one would achieve such a feat; for all intense and purposes, the answer is significantly easier said than done: exploits.

In terms of iOS jailbreaking, the discovery of iOS vulnerabilities can lead to the potential exploitation of said vulnerabilities and, when the required exploits are applied properly and bundled into a utility with the intent of enabling root access, with no shortage of additional coding-related goodies baked into the mix, a jailbreak is born.

Pangu iOS 8.1 Jailbreak - Will The Evad3rs Step Up With Evasi0n To Jailbreak 8.1?

A new Jailbreak-related video that tackles difficult topics, including whether jailbreaking is safe, if the evad3rs will release evasi0n8 and more.

Pangu for iOS 8 requires a number of different exploits to successfully jailbreak 8.1 completely Untethered. With Apple’s latest beta release of iOS 8.1.1 beta 1, the community gained a glimpse at what Apple has planned for their upcoming release and it doesn’t bode well for jailbreakers. Essentially, at least one of the exploits employed by Pangu has been patched (closed) by Apple in 8.1.1. beta 1, the iAdm1n exploit, which is paramount to the jailbreak utility, as it’s required to successfully inject the required jailbreak data.

While it will always be possible to jailbreak 8.1 using Pangu (via either of our one-click guides: 8.1 for Windows or Pangu for OS X), once iOS 8.1.1 is released, those keen on jailbreaking iOS 8 will no longer be able to do so if they upgrade to the latest firmware.

With the jailbreak-patching firmware in sight, we’ve received reports from Apple employees that the company plans to issue the iOS 8.1.1 firmware to the masses sometime this week. As we move into Thursday, it’s becoming more likely that Apple will opt to either release iOS 8.1.1 at the end of this working week or at the beginning of next week.

iOS 8.1.1 Beta 1 Spells Trouble For Jailbreakers, Urgent Notice To Avoid 8.1.1!

More on iOS 8.1.1 and how it will affect jailbreaking - avoid the firmware once it’s released to the public.

Interestingly, yesterday Apple stopped signing 8.1.1 beta 1 to registered developers - without releasing beta 2 of the firmware, it was all but clear that the final iteration would precede the single beta release. However, earlier today Apple began re-signing iOS 8.1.1 beta 1, indicating that there may be additional portions of the firmware that require more thorough testing.

Use this rather odd lapse in signing to your advantage: jailbreak iOS 8.1 now before it’s too late! If you’ve been waiting to jailbreak until either the evad3rs release a utility or things become more stable, don’t; for more on the former, watch the above video, as for the latter, the jailbreak is perfectly stable thanks to a number of recent Cydia updates on Saurik’s part.

Apple’s Updated iOS 8.1.1 Firmware: Recap

Once iOS 8.1.1 is released, Apple will close 8.1’s signing window and, in turn, effectively patch the Untethered iOS 8 jailbreak, making it impossible to jailbreak 8.1.1 on a freshly restored iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Brielle H, If you want to jailbreak your iOS 8.1, I would highly suggest first backing up your data on iTunes, restore to a clean build of iOS 8.1, jailbreak, then restore your back up through iTunes. Pangu Team has lreviously said that OTA updates can be jailbroken but are bound to cause problems. Hope that helps.

  5. Brielle H says:

Is it safe to run the jailbreak on an iPhone 6+ upgraded to 8.1 OTA?

Do some research, tweaks not working is not related to Pangu jailbreak, the tweaks aren’t updated for the iOS 8, you must wait for the Cydia tweaks to be updated from their authors
