Pre iOS 8.1 Jailbreak 8.0.2 Utility: How To Maintain Your Jailbreak On 7.1.2

Pre iOS 8.1 Jailbreak 8.0.2 Pangu or Evasi0n Utility: How To Maintain Your Jailbreak on 7.1.2 - Today, like with each day following iOS 8’s initial release, we find ourselves closer to the mobile liberation that will inevitably come in the form of an iOS 8.0.2 UnTethered jailbreak. As detailed in preceding articles, not only are the evad3rs (the ingenious team of hackers behind the creation of the first iOS 6 and iOS 8 UnTethered jailbreak utilities, evasi0n and evasi0n7 respectively) working diligently to discover new vulnerabilities, but the newest jailbreakers on the scene are also racing for a release: Pangu. Furthermore, with Pangu financed by a third-party Chinese company with monetary interests in jailbreaking, Pangu may very well be the first to issue an iOS 8 jailbreak for 8.0.2 and 8.1. However, that’s not exactly the focal point of today’s article - regardless of what anyone may say, the past is still very much a part of the present. Each day following Apple’s release of iOS 8, which in turn patched Pangu, we received a number of questions related to the tool’s functionality; not so much whether Pangu can jailbreak 8.0.2, but whether it still supports 7.1.2 ensuing the aforementioned patch.

In addition to recognizing the blatantly obvious future of jailbreaking that is iOS 8, it’s important to pay homage to the incredible tools that paved the way for the forthcoming iOS 8 jailbreak 8.1 and 8.0.2 utility.

That being said, we’re here today to provide an answer to the following question: “can Pangu still jailbreak 7.1.2 fully Untethered on all devices?”

iOS 8.1 And 8.0.2 Jailbreak In The Works, But What About Pangu For 7.1.2?

The latest video from iCrackUriDevice discusses the aforementioned question and provide a detailed analysis of the current iOS 8.1 and 8.0.2 jailbreak status.

Thankfully, the answer to the above question is a definite ‘yes’! For those of you who are newcomers to the incredible world of jailbreaking, first of all, welcome! Secondly, it’s important to realize that when a new jailbreak-patching firmware is released, the latest jailbreak will continue to function on the supported firmware(s) for eternity, provided you avoid said jailbreak-patching firmware update.

Moreover, once an update to a firmware that isn’t supported by the latest jailbreak tool(s) is carried out, in this case iOS 8.0 through 8.0.2, once the signing window closes (it already has), it’s impossible to downgrade to the latest firmware that’s still supported by the jailbreak utility, in this case 7.1.2.

If you upgrade from iOS 7 to 8.0.2, you will effectively forfeit your ability to jailbreak using either evasi0n 7 for 7.0 through 7.0.6 or Pangu to jailbreak 7.1 through 7.1.2. Having said that, if you happen to own a device on any iOS 7 firmware, again, it’s not too late to jailbreak fully UnTethered - follow either our evasi0n 7 guide for lower 7.0.x firmwares or our Pangu tutorial to jailbreak 7.1.x.

As for the next Untethered jailbreak for iOS 8 through 8.1, such a utility is contingent upon not only the release of the latter, but also that of the new iPad models, being the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3. Thankfully, both of the new iPads are scheduled to be unveiled in just two short days during a special media event Apple has planned (additional details available on Best Tech Info).

Finally, we’ll have additional coverage on not only iOS 8.1 and the latest iPad models, but also the development of the Untethered iOS 8 jailbreak 8.1 utility in the days and weeks to come; stay tuned for more information and keep your browsers locked to Evasi0n Jailbreak.
