iOS 8.1.3 Development, Will It Patch TaiG 8.1.2? Jailbreak 8.1.3 Warning!

iOS 8.1.3 Update, Will It Patch TaiG? Urgent Jailbreak iOS 8.1.3 Warning! - There’s no questioning that the jailbreak community has been very lucky, and equally blessed, with the incredible talent of both Pangu and TaiG with their utilities available that can jailbreak a combination of seven different firmwares (iOS 7.1.2 through 8.1.2), as of late. However, a potential dark cloud looms on the horizon: the unreleased, and equally unofficial, iOS 8.1.3 update. While we’ve had ample warning that iOS 8.2 will be released to the general public sometime in “early 2015”, which will likely patch the TaiG jailbreak 8.1.2 tool, iOS 8.1.3 may come as a surprise, and in turn could patch the aforementioned jailbreak ahead of 8.2’s release. Over the course of approximately a week, MacRumors has reportedly noticed a surge, albeit limited to a handful of devices, internally testing the firmware (allegedly a “few dozen”), of hits from iOS 8-powered devices running a re-release build of iOS 8.1.3. The first hint of 8.1.3’s potential release made itself known on the site’s weblogs on December 8th, 2014, merely a day before the company released iOS 8.1.2, which wasn’t subjected to developer testing. Like with iOS 8.1.2, and unlike 8.2, iOS 8.1.3 may come in an ‘out-of-the-blue’ release, forgoing any form of registered iOS Developer testing. However, either way, the possibility remains that Apple may close the vulnerabilities TaiG exploited to achieve an Untethered iOS 8.1.2 jailbreak in their TaiGJBreak 1.2.0 utility making it impossible for any device to jailbreak 8.1.3 using the current iteration of TaiG. For additional information on the mysterious 8.1.3 and how the firmware may, or may not, affect jailbreaking, continue reading past the break.

iOS 8.1.3 Development - Will It Be Possible To Jailbreak 8.1.3 UnTethered?

Jailbreak iOS 8.1.3
It’s no secret that Apple patches jailbreak utilities, while they’ve been rather lackadaisical about it in regards to the Pangu jailbreak for 7.1.2 (allowing the jailbreak to remain un-patched for months, until 8.0’s public release), as well as to TaiG for 8.1.x, it’s certainly a strong possibly that Apple may deliver their iOS 8.1.2 jailbreak-patching firmware in the form of iOS 8.1.3 sooner rather than later.

As alluded to above, it’s always good to err on the side of caution when it comes to updating, it’s crucial to reiterate that you should approach the forthcoming release with great discretion.

Jailbreakers Should Avoid iOS 8.1.3 At All Costs, A Jailbreak Might Not Be Available!

If iOS 8.1.3 does indeed close the vulnerabilities TaiG heavily relies upon, you’ll need to be extraordinarily vigilant when plugging your device into iTunes as it will certainly prompt for a device upgrade - if that scenario were to play out, provided 8.1.3 patches TaiG, you’ll end up being locked out of jailbreaking until a new utility is released from either TaiG, Pangu or even the evad3rs.

However, such a tool may not be released until iOS 8.2 is released - although TaiG promised to provide “surprises” with every “subsequent iOS public release”, the team may opt to wait until both 8.2 and the Apple Watch become available, as they’ll be the next major releases from Apple.

iOS 8.1.3 And Jailbreak Update Recap8.1.3 Jailbreak TaiG

As of now, as originally stated on MacRumors, “a potential release date for iOS 8.1.3 remains unknown”. If you take anything away from this article, it should be an extra sense of caution when it comes to iOS 8.1.3, whether the firmware patches TaiG or not it would be wise to avoid the forthcoming release until we know for certain.
