GBA4iOS Gameboy Advance Emulator for iOS 7 without 7.0.4 Jailbreak -Today, departing from our traditional jailbreak 7.0.4-related tutorials, we’re going to detail how to obtain a GBA (Gameboy Advance) emulator for all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models on iOS 7 without being jailbroken. For those of you who are unaware, emulators essentially allow iOS devices to run various games from other platforms in a virtual environment and while Apple is against the concept, it’s possible to download and play Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Color games with the latest GBA4iOS 2.0 update - a complete tutorial can be found after the break. Also, on a separate note, by popular request, our new list of top Cydia tweaks will be published this weekend; keep your browsers locked to iJailbreak Evasi0n.

First, before we begin, if you have any questions or require additional clarification, we recommend watching the detailed video that’s embedded below in addition to reading through our detailed steps.

Those of you who have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on either iOS 6 or any iteration of iOS 7, you’ll be able to install the GBA4iOS emulator using a simple workaround!

How to Install GBA4iOS - Gameboy Advance:

  1. Set your iOS device’s date back to a day prior to February 19th, 2014 - the reasoning behind this step is actually quite simple. The developer’s in-house app distribution privileges for their enterprise account were revoked, causing individuals who wish to install the app to retroactively adjust the date temporarily. To change the date simply open the Settings app, navigate to General, tap Date & Time, toggle Set Automatically off and select any day before the 19th.
  2. Open the Mobile Safari app, navigate to http://gba4iosapp.com, tap the Download GBA4iOS 2.0 button, followed by the second download button.
  3. Tap “Install” upon receiving the iOS prompt, open the GBA4iOS 2.0 app once it has finished installing and continue through the final confirmation prompt to open the app.
  4. At this point, you can change your date back to the current day and start downloading GBA roms for iOS by tapping the + button inside the GBA4iOS app, searching for the desired rom(s) and tapping Download.
  • Note: Unfortunately, due to the way in-house apps function, you’ll be required to change your date every time you reboot your device - refer to the first step.

For additional information on roms and GBA4iOS 2.0, including a method for obtaining customized controller skins for the app, follow along with the above video.

Also, as previously mentioned, check back this weekend for a new list of useful and noteworthy tweaks from Cydia.
